Good overview - I used mine on Saturday for the first time. While I have to confess that I am a n00b, I found it to be very accurate at range with a respectable rate of fire. It's big, and heavy, and I'm glad I got a G36C as a back-up for CQB (and because I can share mags between them) - it's definitely too big and heavy as a short-range assault AEG. I don't see it as a disadvantage.

Don't forget that the original design is as a civilian hunting rifle, they've tried to hide the assault-rifle mechanism and features for authenticity... I was pleased to see that it is mostly compatible with the rest of the G36 range.

The scope isn't great, but it's similar to the real thing, and once you get used to it, it really isn't so bad - honest! :) Also, the spacers rattling bothered me too; I cut up some strips of foam and used that to 'silence' it.
