Van Security ??

    Hey all ,

I have an 03 Transit for the buisness and need to secure it better.

I got plates put on the inside of the back doors near the hinges to stop cutting of the wire loom, so thinking about a good alarm or a deadbolt system.

Think the deadbolt is prob the better option since if the alarm goes when a door is opened the scum will still grab stuff.

Has anyone any experience with this ? Any advice appreiciated

    Thanks

You'd be as well getting both. Even a cheap diy alarm (Argos do them from about €80) as a back up to the deadbolts. Noise is good. Even the flshign dash light might be enough to make them move along to the next van.

I had my Partner parked in the carpark at McQuillans in Blanch a couple of months back. Went in to buy a new padlock for the back doors ironically enough. Was in the for about 10 mins. When I came out I noticed a hole drilled at the lock on the drivers door. In the middle of the poxy day. I assume they either saw me coming back or were disturbed by someone. ****.

You might want to get a small cage or similar as well, if the thieves make it into the van. Depends on the size of the objects you want to protect. Tools etcetera can be stored in a locked box attached to the floor/wall.

Where did you get the plates to protect the loom at the hinges? I am collecting a brand new transit tomorrow (yippee!!) and plan on keeping the scum out.

Heard (here I think) that this also works on the front doors, triggers the central locking. scummers are doing it with a hacksaw blade.

    I'd go for a deadbolt & alarm.

I think ford supply them for free? My 02 transit for some reason doesn't have central locking, it has a lock at each door, passenger, side slider and back and doesn't have the loom on the driver side back door either so nothing to worry about for me :) Plus if I'm not in the van, the van is empty.

I know it's an old thread lads, but does anyone have any recommendations
for getting deadbolts fitted on a ford transit - Dublin or surrounding counties?
