I was on a 14A and was travelling along Barton Road in Churchtown this morning. Just before the traffic lights to turn down Beaumont Avenue heading towards town, there is a bus shelter. As there was nobody waiting at the bus stop, the bus proceeded to wait at the red traffic light, the pedestrian light changed to the little green man symbol and the bus driver was a bit trigger happy and accellerated a bit, thinking it was his green light. But at that moment a Downs Syndrome lad in his teens was crossing the road and the bus driver's actions frightened the life out of this lad and he nearly hit his head on the windscreen. But the real sickener was to come, it was bucketing rain at 9.30 this morning and this lad wanted to get on the stationery bus. As it was not at a stop the driver would not open the doors and off we went!

The bus was stopped at a traffic light about twenty feet away from the bus stop, he nearly knocked this kid down, would it have killed him to let the lad on? I wanted to say something to the driver but found to my cost it is not worth arguing with this type of person. Most of the drivers on this route are sound lads and lassies but this morning I thought, what a pig!

Doesn't matter who the kid was. If the driver opened the door where there wasn't a stop and the kid fell and hurt his leg, he (or rather the parents) could sue

Exactly. Sad reflection on the overly litigious society we live in these days
