    Lads,

What tools are any use for helping in BSOD errors??

I know a few of the tools but lets just say you got a BSOD and didn't get to see the error what steps/Apps would do the trick and in what order etc.

This is just out of curiosity BTW.

    disable auto reboot on fault.

Make a note of said error msg.

a bit more complex solution is to use WinDbg to debug a memory core dump.
its useful to track down any driver that caused the BSOD.

another option is to rule out hardware by running manufacturers diags on an overnight soak test

if happening frequently then try the system in safe mode too

event log should list what happened if all goes well #

I have to say that having the system automatically reboot on encountering an error is one of the most stupid and baffling decisions they made. Everything from Windows 2000 up does it and even Vista continues this trend. Why??

If you remember to disable this option you're fine, but are there any tools that can help if you've not done so? I think this is what the OP is getting at? (be interested myself)
