I know this has probably been asked before and I'm sorry if it has but here goes. Can I take my Irish viewing card to France to view Irish channels? I have an English FTV card to watch Sky over there which also works over here, so I'm wondering does the Irish card work over there, or is it tied to my Irish box?

It is cloned to your irish box just primarily for Movies and Sports all the other channels will work fine.

Just don't plug it in to a telephone line.

Sorry to drag this thread up - we have an apartment in Lanzarote for the family, and recently a satellite system has been installed that the whole apartment complex can use. We are now planning on buying a tv and getting a box to get these channels (no major channels really, haven't had a chance to check).

I'm wondering is there a way that I can bring over my ntl card and pick up RTE and BBC? There will also be other members of the family that have sky accounts and want to access RTE and BBC too.

What do I have to do to achieve this?Do I need to bring another box over? Sorry I don't have enough info on what type of system is being installed over there,I'll know in a few weeks though

    Thanks

NTL is cable not satellite. It won't work.

It's also likely the Satellite system is for Spanish TV, unless everyone is from the UK & Ireland, in which case a Sky box and card won't work either.

If a system has been installed for the community it will Definitly have the spanish DTT system, And will have the bbc itv etc in it to(even spanish installers will put in the english stations given half a chance to erect a big dish). will prob have 1 or 2 german stations as well, buy a tv with DTT as well !!! no need for a spanish DTT box as your tv will just plug straight into the wall socket. Also make sure the tv will have the ability to change the audio track from spanish to english as more and more spanish dtt channels will have dual audio track available. Now if its the case that a 3.1 prime focus or offset dish has being installed and if theres enough irish on the complex well you should have the stations rte1 & 2 at the very least. You being an owner has the president of the complex contacted you in regards to the system? And the community fees, as a meeting would of occured to sort out the payments etc. Ask someone you know on the complex what stations are coming through the system before you buy anything. 1 more thing forget about the ntl card, Dont forget that rte is being rebroadcasted from the nearby island of fuertaventura, the channel line up consistes of rte1 bb1 2 ch4 ch5 i think, they switch rte2 over on the weekends to show the gaa and switch back again on monday. so bear this in mind about rte if it's not available on the communal system. If you got clear line of sight to fuertaventura then this is a option available for you.

Is that system in fuertaventura a microwave system? I think I've heard of something similar before.
