    Hi all,

Is there any way of gradually improving short sightedness without having laser surgery?

I'd like to try "alternative" ways of trying to improving my eyesight before going down the road of laser surgery. My glasses at the moment are -3.75, contact lenses are -4.0.

    Thanks!

    Yes there is.

You can go the Orthokeratology (or Ortho-K) route which provides specially fitted contact lenses that you wear them at night while you sleep and they gradually compress your eye curvature so you get temporary restored vision.

Apparently, the effect can last up to 48 hours depending on the person, but its best you wear them every night.

There have been cases of side effects but it is usually down to hygene and they do work in the sight range you posted.

    NP.

Actually let me know how they go, I dunno how much the cost in Ireland, they should be about the same price as Lasik.

Id also like to look into that Ortho K too!

My OH who has very bad sight is also considering laser surgery, Id really rather that be a last resort but thats up too her, best thing I could come up with was getting her Sight Training on the DS! I find it really does relax your eyes but I can't imagine It improves your actual sight.
