    Hi,

I'm considering applying for the upcoming trainee auditor recruitment for the C&AG.
I have read about the recruitment process etc. on previous threads but have questions relatingto the job itself. has anyone got experience of this role? What the work entails?, how much travel is involved?, Promotional prospects - where are trainees after 3-5 yrs and on? How quick is it to move up?

I am at the start of my career. Would I be better getting some experience of private sector before going for a role like this?

    Thanks
    J

Too late to apply - that recruitment competition is closed now.
Tests (for those who applied on time) are scheduled for 12 April.
    Better luck next year.

Depends what you want to do - for existing civil servants it's a great job working with intelligent people and learning new skills.
I think it's a specialised EO grade and they provide training and exam fees. It's also a faster way to get promoted than the ordinary EO route. I think the sooner you complete all the exams the sooner you move on up.

For outside people I don't know how it compares with other accounting jobs.
Maybe the pay wouldn't be as good but the hours and working conditions might be better.
