Anyone in the country repair mics? I've an old Beyerdynamic M201 which stopped working, I'd like to get it fixed asap. Ta.

Unless it's a simple wire off fault you may just be as well replacing it. I can send it back to Beyer for you but unless it's a warranty repair the shipping / labour cost would probably get you one on Ebay.

Cheers Shane, I'll give them a bell.

Thanks Paul, it's an old one with a Teuchel connection from the early 80's, Made In West Germany, they don't make this model anymore, and the new ones don't sound as good. I had a look and there was nothing obvious out of place and the cable tested ok. If it would cost less than picking up another one I would like to get it fixed but, if it's going to be as expensive as you're hinting at, I might have to see if I can dig up another one.

    Thanks.

The procedure for repairs is usually get a Returns Authorisation number then we send the mic to them by insured courier. Their minimum charge is usually something in the order of £50 plus parts plus Insured Courier back.....

I had a look on EBay there and there are 201s for about $179 , don't know if they're the older ones......

I have one of those lying around, never really noticed anything special about it. I must have another look...

    It's kinda like a 57 except good ;)

Yeah. I see it's hyper cardioid. Had a sniff around the some forums, one of the things I found interesting was that some found that when using it on snare the high hat spill sounded better than a 57. That's yer off axis response kicking in there.

Well everyday's a school day wha?
