I changed from vodafone pay as you go to meteor bill pay yesterday. I have a friend in USA that i text the odd time but today when i text them the delivery report comes in saying "waiting" and i was chatting to them online just there and they said they hadnt got any text off me.

Anyone know why they arent going through?

As far as I know, you can't text non-GSM networks (e.g. Verizon, Sprint) in the States with Meteor. I would imagine this is why your friend isn't receiving your messages.

It's an pain in the arse alright and there's no easy around it if you've got a contract with your new network.

You could contact Meteor about making it possible to text your friend's network but I'm not sure if they'd do anything for you.

You could get your friend to change to a network that allows texting with Meteor. Alternatively you could get an O2 or Vodafone SIM for your US texting.

Many US networks' websites let you text their customers for free (no login need), but your friend won't be able to text you back to a Meteor phone.

Check what network your friend is on and then call Meteor. They will be able to check if they have an international SMS agreement with that network. If they do they will be able to troubleshoot your issue. If they dont then you should be able to cancel out of your contract within the 14 day cooling off period.
