    Hi,
Myself (Mayo Poker Tour) and Carlo (4 Of A Kind Poker) have agreed to a mtach between our respective tours. It will just be two teams playing against each other home and away (10/12 players per team) so am looking for suggestions for a format. Prizemoney isnt a factor, it's more for a bit of craic and slagging rights etc. Has anyone organised anything similar or played in one?? All suggestions welcome.
    Thanks.

Could you not run it similarily to the one you ran in Kiltimagh last year or would that format leave too much room for collusion?

There was 13 teams in that tourney. We could run it like that i suppose.

Say 12 on each team = 24 players. 4 tables of 6 to start with 3 from each team on each table. Run it as a normal tournament on a points system like most other team events. Starting stack of 8,000 and before main tourney, have 12 heads up matches with 2,000 extra chips to the 12 heads up winners????

As regards picking our team Eamon, we will end up upsetting someone, so maybe do it on League rankings, e.g top 3 in Hanleys, top 3 in Mouse and 2 qualifiers for other six spots. One in each pub??? If any of top 3 players cant play offer their spot to next in league?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 222 ✭✭TheBlackThing

Ya thats not a bad idea about picking the teams, and if a player is in the top 3 of both leagues next player gets in etc etc..also like the heads up.
Would it be crazy to run the four tables as STT's with the four winners playing in a final table?? Each player would go in with even stack that way, there would be a lot of chips in play so you would have to work out a different blind structure for it.. I dunno, might be a stupid idea.
I think friday nights could work.

If the 4 winers were from the one team there would be no interest for the other team. Also dont like idea of just a 4 player final table.

Right here goes: (feel free to take apart, i'm not sensitive:rolleyes:)

    12 players per team.

12 Heads up matches - 2,000 bonus chips for winner to take to main event. Winner aslo gets 5 points towards team total score.

Main Event run as a normal MTT. 6,000 starting stack with 20 min blinds. 3 tables of 8 (this will results in a slight imbalance at start) or 4 tables of 6. Each team starts with 0 points and score points as player goes out. e.g 24th = 1point, 23rd = 2 points etc. It can be weighted to give extra points to leading players. Each team's points totalled and go with Heads Up players tally to give final score.

Played over two nights. Aggregate score decides winners.

Entry $100 + $10 Reg and maybe $20 each to generate a few bob for the top 4 in the main event???

I chatted to the lads last night and they've no problem with whatever structure/format comes about...as long as we have a clear advantage from the start :)!!

I think it will work well on a friday night as that night does'nt seem to coincide with either's respective events.

Regarding the specifics of the format/structure mike...i'll go with whatever arrangement comes about. We've never held a team event before so we'd have no experience on how to set one up.

I like the idea of the 10/12 heads-up matches though.

I think if it was properly planned and everyone enjoyed it, it could become a regular occurence.

Guys do you not have each others numbers?
a quick phonecall could arrange this no need for the public discussion

when mick gets some idea of a structure/format we'll be in contact. Untill till then, as he said, its better to let people post their ideas etc so that we can take on board all thats proposed. Either way the rossies will be victorious :p!

Was chattin to Carlo on friday night about this.

I think it would be hard to pick teams of 10 or 12 without causin offence to some people.

I think the best way to run it would be to leave it open to everyone to play and count the points for the top 10 finishing players from each tour/pub. You can still play the heads-up matches with everyone involed and give points for these as well. If the numers are unbalanced, just do a draw to see who plays.

I think a €100 buy in would be sound with everyone. You could pay out 75% of prize pool to the top placed finishers as you normally would. The remaining 25% could go to the winning tours prizepool for their next game i.e. 30 players play. Prizepool is €3000. Mayo Poker Tour wins. €2250(75%) paid out to top 5. €750(25%) paid to Mayo Poker Tour. €375 added to the prize pool in Kiltimagh the following Monday and €375 added to Claremorris on the Thursday.

Whatever format you decide on it should make for a good nights craic

    Alright Carlo

I think friday night would be a good night alright and should suit most people.

Would be great if this worked well and became a regular, monthly game

Hypothetically speaking of course Brendan! :)

I like the idea of the heads up matches before hand....adds a little spice to the main event. I'm totally open to format and structures as i've never ran a team event before.

Oh and please stop cracking bullets with junk at our satellites brendan....its getting repetitive :p!

I wouldn't say i cracked them with junk:mad: If you play often enough you'll eventually outdraw the aces:D

Well i'll check tonight at the kiltimagh tourney to see how many are interested and in C'morris on Thursday. The players who play every week should get first choice and we can have a qualifier for the last couple of places.

As for letting anyone that wants play that takes away from the team element and it could be seriously unbalanced as obviously the host team will have the most players. Running a big tourney with players from both tours is a good idea though id like to sort this team event out first. Also holding back prizemoney toadd to the local tourneys is a bit unfair on the players who actually played.

Ayway i'll run it by a few of the regulars tonight, Gerry, Keith etc and ill also be talking to Eamon and i'll give Carlo a shout tomorrow and we'' sort dates etc. If we can get the first one off the ground, we can take it from there.

This should be a bit of competitive fun. I probable wont' play in the home leg due to running the game. And I may not even get to play in the away leg if I don't qualify

Its 15 max per team with top 12 earning points Mick?

I think it's inevitable that a few lads might pull out at the last minute for whatever reason and one of the teams could be seriously disadvantaged so thats why i suggest this.

yeah thats sound. We've a fundraiser on Easter monday. Otherwise I would have played in your Freezeout. Its been months since I played a decent tourney.
