Hi folks, I'm looking for someone to service the mechanical fuel injection pump on my 2002tii (it's a Kugelfischer pump) and finding it hard to locate someone that knows how to sort them - can anyone help?

Dunno anything about the BMW pump but the ones on the older 60's Merc's are very familiar and I know them inside out.

There is nobody I know of over here that can sort them. With the Mercs you can usually send them for overhaul, which costs about €2000 and then they need to beinstalled and set up correctly. I would assume its the same with the BMW.

I could get you the name of someone who can do the Merc pumps and you could try them but can you tell me the exact problems you are having first..............it is important to know the specific details first.

You can PM me if you prefer !

    Good luck !

.........interesting. It seems to work the same way the Merc ones do, and has similar components, but the internals are totally different. In fact they look to be overly complicated to me !

Thanks lads, I've heard of that chap in Gort, and also another guy called Furley in Kells, but I don't fancy the walk home to Inchicore!

Having said that, it looks like I'll have to go to someone with prior experience. It's been looked at by an enthusiastic Polish chap in the BMW specialist on Donore Ave, but they don't seem to be familiar enough with the unit. I even printed off a Jaymic Service bulletin for them, but I don't they looked at it...

    HI Milod

I have a 2002 tii too. I haven't been tempted to fiddle with the fuel injection in the three years i've had it but two people have: one is a chap called Robert Harrison who used to work for Frank Keane in the 70s and 80s.

The other is a 2002 nut called John Cahillane, who i would highly recommend, but he lives in Killorglin, co. Kerry. Its a nice road trip though....

I have JOhn's number to hand but I'll have to fish for robert harrison's somewhere. PM me or text me on 0868096320.

There's a group of us who run classic beemers and meet up every month.

We're also doing a run on Saturday for 2002s, which we do every year. This year, we're meeting up in Portlaoise. If you're free, give me a text and I'll give you all the details....

    john
