    Same except Liverpool for Inter.

    Liverpool v Barcelona
    Arsenal v Man Utd
    Chelsea v Fenerbache
    Shalke v Roma

Dunphy: "If Messi had been playing, Liverpool would have been destroyed, Bill"

    Semi-Final
    Roma v Man Utd
    Chelsea v Liverpool

Dunphy: "Chelsea never showed up, Bill, the crowd got to them tonight, they bottled it"

    Final
    Man utd v Liverpool

Dunphy: "They've no chance next season."

I really don't mind who liverpool draw if they get through, but i'd love United and Arsenal to be drawn together. Get rid of one of them at least.

wow, so far 100% (admittedly only 2) have predicted Inter will come back from their 2-0 deficit to beat pool. <edit> scrap that, took too long with my reply!

    I'm predicting;
    Liverpool V Roma
    Chelsea V Man U
    Arsenal V Fenerbahce
    Barca V Schalke

If it turns out anything like the last time United got the Arse in a Cup then happy days!

The draw for the semi's are made at the same time I understand. So, if Liverpool get past Inter, it could be possible that one english club will be in one half of the draw and the other 3 would be in the other half. But isn't there some obligation to keep the english clubs apart at this stage (last-8)? I thought there was, iirc there was in revious seasons, but I could be wrong on that.

By the way, in terms of the Group Winners and their home advantage in the last-16 ties, so far 4 of the 2nd placed teams have qualified (and Liverpool were also 2nd so it could be 5), and only 3 of the 1st placed teams have gone through. So much for home advantage in the 1st leg being a major factor or indeed 1st place being a measure of being 'better'. Its a funny old game.

    > Dunphy: "They've no chance next season."

The more Dumb-phy slates Liverpool, the better our chances are. I know, Mike will tell us about Ken in Corrie, and other links as well ....

What's Dumb-phy saying, Chelsea will win it. Yes, they have a chance, a good chance, most do in the last 8 apart from the obvious (Schalke, Fenerbahce, etc) but are they better than previous seasons when they missed out? I dont think so. What are the chances that Dumb-phy will be wrong again - quite high really. Worth a flutter/hedge.

The semi's are an open draw as well after the quarters are finished, im nearly certain. Thinking back to last year, as far as i can recall, Pool fans could have been playing milan or chelsea or Man U.

Edit> Nope im wrong on that, the 2 draws do seem to be together going by this http://soccerlens.com/champions-league-quarter-final-and-semi-final-draw/1219/
The quarter-final (and semi-final) draws for the 2006/2007 Champions League have been announced:

    Quarter-final draw

    AC Milan v Bayern Munich

    PSV Eindhoven v Liverpool

    Roma v Manchester United

    Chelsea v Valencia

(First legs to be played on 3/4 April and second legs on 10/11 April)
    Semi-final draw

Chelsea or Valencia v PSV Eindhoven or Liverpool

Roma or Manchester United v AC Milan or Bayern Munich

(First legs to be played on 24/25 April and second legs on 1/2 May)

    Memory playing tricks on me!

    On teams being kept apart at this stage, the draw is totally open from here onwards;
    Knockout phase
From the last 16 until the semi-finals, clubs play two matches against each other on a home and away basis with the same rules as the qualifying rounds applied. In the last 16, group winners play runners-up other than teams from their own pool or nation, while from the quarter-finals on the draw is free.

    I would love Shalke.

Fenerbache at home yes please, but the away leg... Your not able to play football in Turkey, thats just how it goes.

Nah, United's record on cup draws seem to always play against us. Wouldn't be suprised if we got Barca... :(

I would think it's like that because of the hostile crowds, throwing knives and all that... Not to mention they hate the English!

I think the odds of an english quarter final is 43%, but I wonder what are the odds of them all avoiding each other.

Hope the gunners get Schalke. :)

Eh, how'd you work that one out?

4 English teams, 8 teams in total ==) odds of an English quarter final = 50%

Odds of them not being drawn against each other also = 50%

My bad. In my defence, I was kinda drunk at that stage!

This formula has now been etched into my brain!:D

    P(k out of N) = N!/k!(N-k)! *(pk)(qN-k)

Too much feckin pressure otherwise. And this board would explode.

Banning a few people mightn't be a bad thing. Consider it a "cull".

It will be rigged, 2 all English q/finals followed by an all English s/final.

    Brillant sir :D

Thought about this for a long time yes of course I want Utd in the final and my dream final would be against Barcelona..so to make this happen I would like to get LIVERPOOL , think over two legs Utd stronger team/squad would /should succeed (put them in there place ) and with the league in mind I would love to see Arsenal draw Chelsea two nice hard matches could affect their performances in the league. so here's my idea draw and lame forecasts

    .........QF's...............................SF's.....................................FINAL

    Liverpool v Man Utd...............Man Utd
    .............................................V.....................................Man Utd
    Schalke v Fenerbahce............Schalke................................
    ..........................................................................................V
    Arsenal v Chelsea................Arsenal...................................
    ...........................................V.......................................Barcelona
    Barcelona v Roma................Barcelona

    i hope for:

    United-Fenerbahce
    Liverpool-Chelsea
    Arsenal-Schalke
    Barcelona-Roma

    followed by:

    United-Schalke
    Barcelona-Chelsea

    followed by:

    United-Barcelona

    followed by:

    UNITED being champions

    Im hoping for:
    Schalke v Arsenal
    United v Liverpool
    Chelski v Barcelona
    Roma v Fenerbache
because I'm in to self preservation.

    What I'm hoping for

    Quarter Finals:
    Schalke -v- Liverpool
    United -v- Arsenal
    Barcelona -v- Chelsea
    Roma -v- Fenerbache

    Semi Finals:
    Liverpool -v- Roma
    United -v- Barcelona

    Final:
    Barcelona -v- Liverpool

    Fingers Crossed :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 620 ✭✭✭BobbyD10

    I had a dream:

    Chelsea v Barcelona

    Liverpool v Fenerbache

    Arsenal v Schalke

    Man Utd v Roma

Not sure who's at home tho... :)

Anyone putting Barca in the Semis is wrong I suspect unless drawn against Fenerbache or Schalke. I dont see them beating any Prem side at the moment.

    Hoping for:

    Quarter Finals:
    Chelsea vs. Liverpool
    Man Utd vs Arsenal
    Roma vs Fenerbache
    Barcelona vs Schalke

    Semis:
    Liverpool vs Roma
    Barcelona vs Arsenal

    Final:
    Roma vs. Barca

    Winner Barca!

This way Ferguson will be really pissed.
Chelski will learn money alone doesn't buy success.
Liverpool are out of their league and we're lucky in 2005
Arsenal just can't beat the best when it matters.
The club that's more than a club will get to rub real's noses in it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,894 ✭✭✭Nunu

I want Utd to get Barcelona. I really think we'd have their number over 2 legs.
Their quality performance at Celtic Pk aside they are in quite poor form. Also Messi is missing for both legs so now is the time to get them, not the semis or final.

We have a fantastic back 5 to deal with their attacking might and I think their weakness in defence would fall to pieces up against Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez and co.

Would love if Arsenal and Chelsea were drawn together too.

I would prefer not to meet any fellow premiership side at this stage.

    Utd v Barca
    Arsenal v Chelsea
    Roma v Liverpool
    Fenerbache v Schalke

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,640 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

I want Man Utd to get Liverpool. I would feel more confident if Utd got an English team and Liverpool are the weakest of the bunch. Ferdinand had Torres in his pocket the last time Utd played Liverpool so bring 'em on. My ideal draw would be:

    Man Utd vs Liverpool
    Fenerbahce vs Schalke
    Arsenal vs Roma
    Chelsea vs Barcelona

    Semis:

    Man Utd vs Schalke
    Arsenal vs Barcelona

    Final:

    Man Utd vs Barcelona

Since Liverpool are unbelievably jammy in this competition though, I predict they will get Schalke, Man Utd will get Chelsea, Arsenal will get Fenerbahce and Roma will draw Barcelona.

Crossing my fingers for Arsenal v Barca.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,046 ✭✭✭eZe^

Barca are the most injured team in la liga this season, so its gonna be really tough whoever they draw. Not too confident about the rest of this CL campaign going on current form. Though they seem to be the favourite to make it to the final and f*ck up according to ye guys.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,096 ✭✭✭An Citeog

I wouldn't mind if United got Barça. Some really good attacking players but they are very suspect in defence, especially against pace. No Messi is a huge blow for them aswell. Apart from that, I'd just love to go to the game and should be able to get my hands on tickets for Barça's next CL match (hopefully!).
