Women can enter as well, there is no sexual discrimination on Boards :)

I might be back in time for this one so I'll put my name down as well.

Glad to see the tournaments are getting more regular now. Fair play MBC for getting this one going so quick!

    Stickied.

Taken from Boards II Thread "Angryhippie +2, possibly a 3rd, will confirm it.
I'm raging, I've been on boards since October or so, and I've never looked at the darts forum, even though I love it...And I've just missed the big '08 competition.
Definitely down for the next one, and two of the lads I usually battle with

Well the first tournament had 20 and the second had 16 but already there is a big interest in this one by the looks of things so hopefully we will have a good few at this one.

Lets make the Boards tournament Irelands premier Darts competition :)

Don't worry the way I'm playing at the moment I would need at least seven years to get any good scoring going:D

    hi guys,

Long time reader of the forum, I play a small bit of darts,a int that good and i was just wondering what kind of standard the tournament is?..... like 3 dart average roughly...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,502 ✭✭✭MBC

Howdy harrybosch...........from the last tournie id say the average 3 darts would prob have been around the 60 mark for 3 darts. Some games went 18+ darts others 30+ for 501.

The difference i noticed with the lads who advanced was the finishing.......the eventual winner JR didnt go many doubles with more than 3 darts.

Sure pop along for the crack anyway. The standard really does vary.

The standard is very mixed, there is some very decent throwers and then there are a few jokers like myself ;)

Honestly I wouldn't worry about how good a player you are, it's all about getting a bit of experience and having a laugh. You may as well come along and give it a go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,153 ✭✭✭Rented Mule

I would stick around for the game of 'killers' afterwards if you want to see some 'jokers' lol

The field is fairly level with a few exceptional shots.

Seriously, this is the best advice in the entire thread.

I spent the better part of two hours on a bus going to the last tourney, and it was worth every minute of it.

Just come out and have a laugh.

thanks a mil mate, dont laugh too much when ye see my shinny bearly used darts. do you ever organise any comps closer to the city centre.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,502 ✭✭✭MBC

Well if anyone closer to town would be interested in organising the Boards Comp IV closer to town or anywhere in town..........they would be more than welcome. All you need really is somewhere that sells booze and the use of preferably 3 darts boards (but 2 worked fine in the silver tassie) from 1pm till bout 8pm.

The 1st two tournies were in the Silver Tassie, now the 3rd will be in the Farmhouse.........the 4th who knows?

 I'll talk to the lads in the lantern tonight, they were sayin last night that they hold a couple of charity comps for the hospise across the road, but i'm sure they would like a bit more comps to help promot the game, they have three boards and can put up forth no hassle. gerry tom and anthony are the heads down they, real sound guys. i think they sponsor one of the leagues aswell.:o. wat do play round robin or knock out. or both

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,502 ✭✭✭MBC

Depending on the numbers............we try to play knock out..........and the losers in the 1st round will go into there own comp sorta thing.........so everyone gets at least 2 games..........but it really depends on the numbers and number of boards aswell.

The one in the Tassie was just knockout as there was only 2 boards...........but afterwards we played a game of killers and there was loads in the pub at this stage......ended up being about 30/40 people playing........it was crazy trying to mark it but it turned out well.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17 phil'ios

hi all, i was in the lantern in harolds x and told him about yourselves organising tournies and well he would be happy to help.

so i'm wonderin is there many folk out there interested in a tournie in the harolds cross area. he has four boards. :)

Phil'ios, what is the situation regarding palying darts in the Lantern in Harolds X? Can anyone call in an play? Do they have a league team or competitons? Any information would be great, thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,502 ✭✭✭MBC

What's the plan for Saturday ?

This is what im thinking please throw in ur tupins worth............We will have 3 boards up........so everyone registered will go into the main draw........1st round will be played on the 3 boards........winners will progress in the 2nd round main comp on boards 1 & 2.........maybe run another comp for all the 1st round losers on board 3 (if people wanted maybe charge €2 in or something like that)........at least everyone is guaranteed at least 2 matches?

Or else just run the whole comp on boards 1,2 &3 till it finishes and then have a monster game of killers or shanhai?

All depends on the numbers really.

Alright so for someone taking the bus down (without a bottle of wine in my hand this time), what are the landmarks that I should be looking for in order to find the Farmhouse ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 667 ✭✭✭S.T.D Ste

if you are on the 46A or 764 look for bakers corner pub then you'll come to a big roundabout get of 2 stops after that and walk straight on for about 2 minutes and you'll see it Mule

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,502 ✭✭✭MBC

Just ask the bus driver to let you out at the farmhouse pub.........and then sit behind him and at every stop ask him "are we dere yet?":D
