    Ninja talks about brother’s latest knee injury

    This afternoon horrible news for fans of Mauricio Rua came about. Shogun, who had recently been confirmed as the adversary of former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell in the main event of UFC 85, in London on June 7, was forced to pull out of the fight.

    The reason, however, is not new, as the Brazilian’s left knee went under the knife after losing to Forrest Griffin at UFC 76, and the problem has resurfaced. According to the official UFC website, today a rupture to a ligament in the same knee that bothered the former Pride fighter before has arisen. The Brazilian will return to the operating room. The American organization will make a pronouncement in regards to Chuck Liddell’s new opponent shortly. :cool:

    GRACIEMAG.com contacted Murilo Ninja, Shogun’s brother. Ninja spoke of how the injury came about and how his brother is feeling: “He was doing physical training with Vitor Miranda, explosiveness training, when he felt something in his knee. He became very unhappy when he found out he would need to be operated on, but I told him he is still young and he can’t go on fighting with an unwell knee, like he did with Griffin. I’m certain my brother at 100% will not lose to anybody. He has to prove his talent and to do so he has to be completely fit and prepared. The operation should take place this week,” he related.
