I lost, dominated the 1st round with my boxing and had him just out then when i put him down he took about 20 sec's to get back up! survived the round and in the 2nd i got taken down and escaped and as i took him down fell into a guilloitine, had to tap as i was going to sleep!! thats the nature of MMA, :( click on link to see me with the real deal..

Great Photo Cowzerp, bet his handshake is crushing :)

By the way , why did you go to MMa instead of boxing ?

Somebody'll get killed in that sport one of these days... its pretty vicious isnt it ?
I mean , I watch it , and its very entertaining and all , but people oppose boxing on saftey grounds , where there is still a ref who will stop it at the first sign of real danger, a corner who have a towel ready (to throw in) , a ringside doctor who is active during a fight, a cutman , and heavily padded gloves.

    I see MMa , and it's a bit blood-thirsty.
Fighters often take numerous shots after being ko'ed , its not too far off bare-knuckle, and moves like that guillotine , which i have felt myself personally are way too dangerous for my liking.
I watch fighters in submission holds, and fighters getting pummeled , lying there waiting for 30 or 40 seconds of constant punishment in a vain effort to reach the end of a round !!

Fair balls to you though , I know i havent got the gutz for it ! :)

odd-job, there is only 1 death ever from legalised mma, the refs are very quick to stop the fights and the ground punches are no where near as bad as boxing punches-boxing has numerous deaths every year and lots of brain damage thats not known about!

    i love boxing though!

i changed over for a new experience, i done all i was going to do as an amateur boxer, i might give the pro game a shot though! the choke moves are uncomfortable if you never experienced them but they are harmlesss.

in work so can talk more about it later!!

Hard luck Paul on the bout, fair play getting in though. I know your head from the boxing, I've probably seen you at a few events over the years.

Hard luck Saturday. Was the show good?

What's the plan on the pro boxing route?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,549 ✭✭✭✭cowzerp

    The show was very good..
im either going to go to england for a few shows or there is a show with a new promoter coming up in a few months over here and i might be on that, if i do im going in as a lightweight! thats the weight i boxed internationally at! nothing is confirmed but im training full time and just feel i might aswell try it!!

Fair Play Cowzerp, just a matter of interest what level did you get up to in amateur boxing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,549 ✭✭✭✭cowzerp

The best i done was Boxing for ireland,in the irish team as a youth and as an intermediate too, i also was leinster senior champ, i was beating in the all ireland finals 2 times and on 1 occasion got a letter from the iaba saying that it was a bad decision but could not be overturned, that lad has my all ireland medal!!-this was because 1 judge effed up on the computer and scored him instead of me!
thats why i got the international recognition! i won by loads on 4-5 refs an all! the fight ended up him winning by 1 point!
i won 3 dublins and 2 leinsters and 3 league titles.
i always challenged for the all irelands but was beaten by eventual winners on 5 occasions!
my style would be more suited to the pro game anyway, or so im told!!
