    hey guys

first time poster here so apologies if this is silly question or has been answered before.

I am getting sky+ installed week after next. Howver getting my house rewired at weekend. Electrician is going to be drilling at walls so i was thinking of getting him to wire up the place for sky also.

My question is -- the wiring used for sky -- is it your standard sat cabling that is used ( i have to source all materials myself)

    Thanks for your help

Hi, you should use ct100 type cable also known as wf100 or h109. If possible I would have a satellite or av specialist do the wiring rather than the electrician unless he is fully familiar with RF distribution.

CT100 and HF109 are no longer manufactured.
The replacements are WC100 (air-spaced dielectric) and WF 100 (foam dielectric).
    More info here: http://www.glodark.co.uk/cable.htm

Don't let him connect the cable to sockets or to join it in any way!
If you will have several cables coming to one point, it's a good idea to use WF100, which is available in at least 6 colours.

If your going to re-wire your house you should put in cat 5 cables as your better off looking at it than for it in the future. ;)

I stand corrected but i did say CT100 "type cable" as its a generic term .
