Officially the most anticipated movie of 2008 for yours truly. Hitting our screens in July!

Thankfully they've ditched the isolated concept of the original sequel and gone back to an epic, balls to the wall action fest, though it's clear from the weak CGI, noticable even in a low res trailer, that ILM/Tippet Studios have nothing to do with this one....SST2 had brilliant FX and dreadful everything else, hopefully this has everything else necessary to carry it through. Including a return to automatic rifles instead of lasers! :p

    Ewww, Part 3?
It will truely be the 'turd' installment... didn't they already kill
and hump this franchise dry with the last sequel?...

Watched the trailer last week and really enjoyed it. Cannot wait to get the DVD and watch it over and over again. The original is awesome, one of the best films of the 90s and a truely great piece of cinema.

    That. Looks. Awful.

Man, just gimme the 1st one on dvd and i'll be quite happy - that looks like utter tripe. worrying that the cgi was better in a film from 1997. even a big budget film of 97.

Could be ok, not sure about the trailer. Managed to miss the 2nd one but the 1st one was top notch.

From hearing peoples opinions, I think I was wise to avoid the second one, but that one looks great :D

Straight to DVD....and yes...yes he is. It was probably either this or bankruptcy.

You really have to wonder how some people even became actors. Don't get me wrong, I actually like him, and he can be good in certain movies, but the movies that largely constitute his staple work, the gung-ho action movies, he's absolutely dreadful in.

Trailer looks good, I'm looking forward to watching this movie.

Never even new there was a second one though, doesn't sound like I missed much.

Where could you get the second one?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

Should be able get it in any half decent video store, HMV, Zhivago, even Xtra-Vision....I remember when it first came out I had to pay almost 40 euro for it on release day, because you could only initially buy it in a double box set...

funnily enough the second one was on last night on the sci-fi channel. Should have it on again quite soon as they tend to repeat their stuff alot.
And no, I didn't watch it!

Well it has the writers off the first on board...so that's promising.
Could do with a cinema release though.

Think of the aliens movie in the space station, on the planet. Insert small bugs, instead of the big one, and that's pretty much the plot, I'm told. I avoided it.

    =-=

Trailer looks good. Stage6 was in the credits, but that site is now gone, isn't it?

It's the name of Sony's new label. They have some decent titles on the horizion, including the Thomas Jane directed and starring Dark Country.Along with two val Kilmer films and some others.

It seems to be mainly focusing on direct to DVD sequels with Vacancy 2 and The Art of War 2.

Looks like a real "movie of the week" effort there. No wide shots in the whole ad leading me to believe it's just gonna be a glorified tv show.

Still, the trailer does make me wanna watch part 1 again.

The 2nd movie had some great special effects, it's only redeeming factor really. The 3rd movie....I dunno. Unless Paul Verhoeven is doing something, I don't want to know.

Looks like it could be back to the cheesy style that made the original so good. :)

Its not bad... some of the dialogue and acting is atrocious though....

Saw it last night, not very impressed. It's not as bad as 2, but it didn't manage to capture the feel of the original. It just seemed to be trying to be serious in the wrong places at times, and cheesy in the wrong places at other times.

Also, wasn't Paul Verhoeven meant to be doing this? Credits (and IMDB) say Edward Neumeier
