Going to the UK this weekend to pick up a classic Range Rover , it is UK taxed and MOTed , will be insured for the journey back but what I am unsure about is what address to put on the UK logbook , if I put my southern Irish address will they send the UK log book to me or should I use a freinds UK address and get him to send me the log book .If I use the Irish adress will they automatically put it down as exported .I dont want to register it in the south straight away untill I find out if its worth it or not , unfortunatly its not under vintage status of 30 years old

I've kinda had this problem myself in the past, although in slightly different circumstances. If the current UK owner sends the logbook to the DVLA it will take an age to get it posted to you. My suggestion is to ask them to send a letter to the DVLA to say that the car was permanently exported. They will list it as such and that will be the end of the UK reg process.
You can then reg the car here when it suits you, although you ARE supposed to let the tax office know here withing 24 hours AFAIK.
If he insists that he send the logbook to the dvla, the same thing happens, it just takes a LOT longer.

If its a V5 form, take it with you, you will need it to register the car here, tear of the permanent export part and send that to the dvla, they will then take the car of their system.

the VRT boys have an agreement in place to send the V5 forms back to Swansea... so get it all!!
