Part of Navan Road reduced to one lane inbound ?

Anyone know what is the bright idea behind taking away one of the two Dublin-bound lanes from the Navan road - starting just before the new Ashtown train station all the way down to the roundabout at the Halfway House pub ?

The outside line is 'crossed-out' with white lines, forcing everyone into a single lane resulting in long tailbacks. Do the planners not realise how bad this is going to be when traffic coming quickly from the new M3 arrives there ?

The M3 will effectively terminate into one lane

Well the traffic has to be funnelled into one lane coming into the city anyway. If not before the Ashtwon roundabout, then directly after it. Having this take place before the roundabout has the advantage for Dublin city council of keeping the traffic jam in Fingal ;)

This is just an extension of the original situation.

When the slip road from the train station was put in, the slip road joined where the two traffic lanes were merging. To remove the confusion of another lane merging they moved the ending of the right hand lane back a few metres.

The M3 will get you to Clonee quicker, but traffic will just pile up from there on.

Is it the N3 turned into a motorway ?

What rock have you been living under for the past few years?

The one that all the treehuggers have been protesting because it runs through the Tara-Skyline valley and closish to the Hill of Tara.

A big rock! I'd heard about it but didn't know it was M3 / N3. Doesn't affect my day to day life much so ain't been following real close.
