Moving Dish and Cost?

When I moved into Drogheda 14 months ago I got Sky in and the engineer just put on new cables to the dish the previous owners left that is attached to an aeriel and attached to a chimney.

Needless to say over the last couple of months with the wind my reception has gotten steadily worse by the day to the point now if it just rains I get the no signal being received.

The neighbours that have Sky all have the minidish on the front of their houses which apart from being sheltered which must be a better than being 100% exposed to the elements means it's more accessible for DIY re-alignment.

I have to get the engineer out in the next few weeks anyway to look at my HD Box, conveniently one month out of warranty so can I ask them to move my dish and does anyone know what cost it would be on top of the call out charge?

According to their own terms and conditions, when Sky install they are entitled to use any existing equipment on the house, provided it is suitable.
If the dish is attached to a secure lashing kit (bracket and wire around chimney), that is preferable to having it mounted on the front of the house, where it is unsightly and contravenes planning regulations.
A better idea would be to have a dish put on T&K brackets and a sturdy pole on the back wall of the house so that it overlooks the pitched roof, but is hidden from view at the front of the house. Alternatively on a wall or pole in the back garden ( if it is long enough to get some distance from the house.) Whatever you do you are far better to get a recommended local independent satellite specialist , rather than going through sky, they will some somebody out who will probably only want to do the easiest job as quickly as possible.

Thanks for that, I didnt realise putting a dish on the front of the house contravened planning regulations as all the houses here are done that way.

Putting it on the back wall might be a way to go, but does that cause a problem with cabling the fact it is probably more exposed than would be on the roof?
