Oh, I wonder who put that there? :p

ffs, he's shíte. Not gonna make it. Too lightweight for a defender tbh.

They say Shels' "One to watch" is Philly. :D

Did they not tip Waterford somewhere in it? With Dundalk and Shels to be close behind?

He played well up in Donegal for the two friendlies there a couple of week-ends ago.

    He played well,yes.

But did he threathen in front of goal? No.

He can hold the ball up decent enough but my god he is so slow it's unreal. Just last Friday night a ball was played over the top and he must of had a 3 or 4 yard start on McGuinness.
Hughes didn't even get to the ball before Mcguinness was there. He really needs to lose the weight.

Anyways, for the leagues, these are my predictions.

    Premier Division Winners: Drogheda
    Runners Up: Derry
    Third Place: Boh's
    FAI Cup: Cork
    League Cup: Shels:p

    First Division Winners: Shels
    Runners Up: Waterford
    Third Place: Dundalk

It will be an interesting season, thats for sure.

The top half of the league all strengthned on last season. Drogs will be favourites, but Cork, Rovers and Bohs (until their fans turn on the Rovers supporting midget in charge) all seem to have signed well and Derry will never be far from the fray. Pats could challenge, but I said that last season too. Rovers will improve on fifth but not win it.

Cobh will stay up, a well organised club living within their means. Sligo will be the whipping boys this year.

The first should be a decent race. Dundalk signing the Rovers team that won the division, Fingal seem to have a decent squad and if Shels survive the year they will compete.

    Premier
    Drogs

    Cup
    Cork

    League Cup
    Rovers

    Relegated
    Sligo and UCD

    1st
    Shels
    Promoted
    Fingal

    Relegated
    Sligo and UCD

    1st
    Shels
    Promoted
    Fingal

Three teams go down this year mate and only one goes up.
    No play offs or anything.

No reason why we won't survive this year at all.

We aren't taking any drip-drip from the builders this year, and on a wage budget of 7.5k, plus the Fred Davis initiative, we won't be going outside that.
    1st
    Shels
    Promoted
    Fingal

Whats the Fred Davis inititiave? I have given up on shelsweb.

Agreed. Giving the Bozo's two huge gates per year grates with me.

Promoted one of Shels, Fingal and hopefully not Dundalk. Although they will be strong this year with a hooped spine.

Relegated, Bray, UCD and Sligo. Galway to hang on and Cobh to suprise a few people.

    Predictions:

    Premier:

    Galway

    1st:

Yeah, it is but it does make the league fairer so teams don't have the advantages of playing certain teams at home twice. Isn't good either way tbh.

Shels really have to get out of the First Division this year, it will be very difficult next year with three Premier teams coming down.

Not necessarily. The teams that get relegated tend to lose the majority of their decent players and have to rebuild almost from scratch. Sometimes the teams already in the division are better equipped for the battle.

Look at Longford this season. Will be very surprised if they challenge for promotion this season.

Longford had financial problems before going down though.

I'm pretty sure Mooney Baker, Ryan, Duffy Brennan etc would have been on their bike reagrdless of financial issues. And I'd say Matthews wouldn't have turned down Cork either.

They wouldn't have gone down if it wasn't for the financial difficulties though.
The team was good enough to stay in the league.

They would of come 7th without the 6 point decuction.

Sh*te they are alright. Fortunately we're less sh*te than all the other teams in the 1st Division which means that Dundalk Fc will be in the Premier next season. Ah yes, thanks for the memories 1st Division but its time the lilywhites moved on up.

To be honest I think a lot of people are underestimating Shels for going up this season. Suits us fine though as it should mean a lot of people will be focusing on Dundalk and Waterfords form instead of us.

Well at the start of the season anyways.

Wouldn't say anybodys underestimating Shels. General consensus is that 1 of Dundalk Waterford or Shels will win the division with a few people picking Sporting Fingal as their dark horses. Shels are 3rd favourites with the bookies @7/2. Personally I see Limerick as dark horses not Fingal. They had a decent season last year and if they can build on that they'll defo finish top 3 anyway.

Of course you will. I have heard this every season since you went down and the only year you were approaching competitive on the pitch was the season that didn't matter.

The reality is you are at your level for a club of your size. Mid-table in the first.

Yeah, I'd agree with that alright, but also Fingal, they do have a decent enough squad there.

The five clubs will be fairly close, with Monaghan maybe pushing a bit too.

But, I can see Shels doing the biz.

I think that it will be a three horse race with Shels, Dundalk and Waterford to be honest.
Don't think there's any other teams good enough to challenge.
I think Limerick are going to come 7th or 8th to be honest.

Nah as you said yourself we've signed the players from Rovers who won this division a couple of years ago. Time to face facts OhNoYouDidnt, Oriel Park is gonna be on your list of clubs to visit next season(assuming Shamrock Rover(aciever)s don't get relegated this time around.

The Futures White, The Futures Oriel.

    They finished 4th last season

The top five will deffo be

    Shels
    Dundalk
    Waterford
    Feck All
    Limerick

    Then

    Monaghan
    Longford

    Then

    Kildare
    Athlone
    Wexford Pinks

Not necessarily in that order. :)

Very true. Nothing worse than finishing level with Galway the **** and seeing them still there. Actually winning three nil in the final game of the season knowing it was all in vain is worse!

I can safely predict, that barring the cup, I will be nowhere near that dump for many years. Thank God.

Your optimism is admirable, but the problems at Dundalk run far deeper than the first team on the pitch. Does it not strike you as odd that while clubs with a smaller fanbase like Cobh, Harps, Sligo and to an extent Drogheda are all a division above Dundalk, that you have stagnated, work started but never completed on your stadium and all sorts of property plays going on behind the scenes?

You need to get real about where your club fits into the scheme of things and have realistic aims will you move forwards.

    I'm serious with that prediction:D
They went on a brilliant run during the season and brought them through it to get them were they finished.
I honestly think they over achieved last season and will find themselves were they should be at the end of this season.
