I could say it was pretentious and laughable but it's Dublin Civil Defence, so obviously not.. couldn't be.

Do Dublin Civil Defence do water rescue for Malahide? I thought that was RNLI but there´s no station there so maybe?

Nope, CD are not on call for water rescue. In other parts of the country, they participate in water-borne searches for missing people very regularly, but I believe this is not the case in Dublin.

So what´s the video about then if they don´t do any water rescues?

They're not a front line emergency service, but they'll provide event cover and stand-by to assist in major emergencies where required....

Who is front line and who is not front line? Beside the obvious garda etc is it mountain rescue and rnli that also dispatched by 999?

I have also heard that Order of Malta are front line in Waterford and Civil Defence cover fire service in some town in tipperary?

Nice pics for the family album perhaps? :)

The Order of Malta deal with emergency calls in Tramore, but not on 999, having their own number which is known locally, I presume.

The CD units in Clogheen and Balingarry used to be local authority run, but were then converted to AFS, and operate on a similar basis to OMAC in Tramore, as a local voluntary fire service.

    Dylan,

Mountain Rescue are certainly via 999, as are the Coastguard (who in turn task the RNLI lifeboats or their own resources as appropriate).
