    Sh1te:(

Really hurts the sport when top draw fights like this aren't shown because they dont have big recognisable names.

The fight should be shown live and then shown the following week as part of the friday fight night show to reach a wider audience.

Really is a shame , this is the greatest trilogy we've had since Barrera-Morales . Two elite fighters who have already given us two cracking fights and about to give us another contender for fight of the year . It will be an absolute war , but a skilled war .

Expect some cuts and a knockdown or two , I can see Vasquez coming through this . I think at nearly 33 and his last 2 fights being very tough Maruez could be slightly on the slide .

Marquez won the first round but he was hurt by a couple of big shots.

that was an awesome fourth round

great fight so far. after 7 i have it 68-64 marquez.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,374 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

great stuff. i think Marquez is slightly ahead - but still Vasquez could get a late stoppage.

fight of the year so far. stunning. i'd accept any result to be honest. for the record i have it 114-112 marquez despite the last round. great fight.

Marquez was winning clearly early on but maybe vasquez did enough later on to sneak it- especially with that last round.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 627 ✭✭✭fatgav

like i said, no arguments with the result. overall i can see why he got the win, but i stand by my card. i gave a couple of close rounds to marquez on the back of his accuracy. often felt that he edged the rounds, and i'd one level (seven maybe...). great fight. i hate listening to al bernstein!

I wonder will there be a fourth fight? there has to be!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 362 ✭✭theone

a 4th fight would be great,I thought marquez just nicked it even with that knockdown at the end of the 12th.

why it wasn't on setanta/sky I'll never know (sky offered 25,000, 60,000 was asked so they just left it) Klitschko got 5 million for his snorefest I doubt vasquez or marquez got near that.

And thats the reason there will never be a 4th match.

Shocking promotion by Gary Shaw , less than 7000 people turned up at the event. No undercard even on free tv in the America's.
It should have been built up into something massive ! That's such a marketable match-up for the public audience. You knew it would be a war !!
Also , it was on at a much more respectable time for European viewers.

That fight should have been one of the most eagerly awaited events over the last 6 months !

So dangerous for these fighters,.... they are the type of fights that cause brain damage in years to come,....I can only imagine the size of the purse, definately not worth it for these 2 guys.

Bravo for the warriors though, I gave it to Isreal Vasquez , by a slim margin.Although i had a small wager on Marquez

    Absolutely spot on there Odd-Job.

Absolutely disgusting tbh. People talk about boxing being a dying sport, no wonder if fights like this are completely ignored. Even people who are not boxing fans at all would have thoroughly enjoyed that match.

Massive interest, and in turn revenue, could be generated if the public where made aware of, and shown, fights like this. Instead I am forced to sit all day watching regurgitated late night poker, wrestling and soccer am best bits for the 500th time on sky sports.

    yeah... thanks Babybing.
I have a bit of a thing against Gary Shaw anyway tbh.
After Corrales died , he never contacted the family for over 2 weeks after his death,.... he even made a press statement saying when the funeral was, without the contacting the corrales family !

but i genuinely think he did a siht job promoting that fight.
I reckon you could have got more than 7000 in Dublin in attendance !
Sure thats the way of things.
Im just damn glad I stayed up till crazy o'clock to see it live.
