Well i dont know why but this episode just didnt do it for me, didnt really hold my interest at all which is a pitty.

I dont know at all i cant even say anything about the episode i thought was good, i didnt like the way he was just a clone, if he was real and the one that died was the clone, would have been better. Not much really happened did it? same as the end of the last episode - Telyo is being held by michael - no change in what was going on really.

I can understand what you mean, it was one of those slow burning episodes.

Beckett: The clone explanation was certainly the most obvious, and they threw in the necrosis for good measure. I felt it was handled quite well, he has a dependance on Michael for injections and now we have to stick him back in the stasis pod for a while. Interesting way for the writers to bring him back and immediately shelve him again, at least he wasn't killed off which I thought was going to happen when he confronted Michael. That would have pissed me off no end.

Teylo: Her story with Kanaan is getting more interesting every week. It's the first decent story arc she's gotten since she's been on the show. It looks like her baby hasn't been altered by Michael in previous episodes like I thought but now he's giving her an injection who knows wtf he's doing to it. As for Kanaan, he's starting to turn against Michael which could be Teylos means of escape in a future episode.

It was cool seeing Christopher Heyerdahl(Todd) in his alter role as Halling sporting a shaved head. :) It looks like they may have finally found what Atlantis has been missing until now; a supervillain in Michael. Not as good as Apophis just yet imo but a sinister powerful badguy nonetheless. The final scene was very well done. I'm not looking forward to next week, having no more stargate for a while but i'm expecting a kick ass episode.

All in all this one was decent. 7/10

Passable episode for me. The clone was no surprise at all. Micheal seems to be turning into your typical cartoon baddie. Not keen on the baby thing(memories of the Ori superbaby :(). Overall, it was good to see the pickup from "Sunday" but beginning to find the whole Michael/Teyla clash a bit tedious. Dull but worthy IMO.

Pretty good, nice to see Carson back again. I'm sure he'll be back next season.

Thread title is wrong, btw... its season 4, not 5.

Blarg I looked in here before I watched it >.<

but yeah that sucks, I was hoping he was real too. At the same time I'm sure the episode wont be too badly ruined for a watch :p

That's retarded. They specifically said he wasn't going to be a clone or a copy or anything.

You mean this post from that thread? I'll have a gander on gateworld later.

    No.
Earlier posts, that you would have read, being so heavily involved in the thread.

The only other post in that thread you could mean is this one. It doesn't give any links to anything official either though.

On the return of Carson Beckett: "We wanted to do it in a way that would feel organic with what we were doing for the rest of the season. ... All I'm going to say is we planned how we were going to bring him back at the end of Season Three, and no one caught it. And that's how we would like it to stay. And that story doesn't come to a boil until the end of Season Four, and that's when we're going to bring him back."
(Writer/producer Martin Gero, in an interview with Slice of SciFi)

In one of the pre-aired rumours it clearly ruled out things like replicator duplicates and clones. Cleverly, gateworld has snipped over half of the pre-airing rumours and that was one of them.

The episode was good and i liked the action but it could have been more. Oh well.

not spectacular this week, too much faffin about not enough blowin sh!te up.

so I was wonderin, did Teyla have the gene therapy at any stage, will her sprog be born with the ability to activate both ancient and Wraith technology? it would seem that they now carry the Hoffan Virus, a considerable advantage when on a ship full of Wraith etc.

If it was just a rumour then it's not too bad that he was a clone. I was wondering if there was something official, that's why I was asking for a link.

It was sorta official, as I read it, it appeared to be right out of the horse's mouth (Carson)

Mallozi said the same thing earlier too.

Whatsmore, I've checked the episodes Wiki page, and a new section titled 'trivia' has appeared after the page, beneath the episode description.
It states that the Beckitt that died was to be a clone and this the real one.

That could explain why McGillion thought comeback Carson was going to be the real deal.

If theyre going to bring Carson back next season(not sure if they are)Why would they go through all the trouble of his deteriation and stasis pod etc?

Have to say I liked the episode, but the explanation for Carsons return lingered in the background and really soured things for me.

I was really hoping that the Carson that died was a clone/replicator, and real Carson was kidnapped or something in an episode in season 3 somehow, the way they did it seemed quite lazy imo... its was so frikkin obvious, but the writers made it seem like they had left this hint in season 3 for us....

They said they setup it up at the end of season 3, but wasn't the episode in which Michael was supposed to have taken a DNA sample from Beckitt at the start of season 3?

Its nice having Carson back but it feels far from organic, Its rather off putting tbh. He's NOT the real Carson, so it really sours the whole thing. The writers have royally screwed us over imo, I mean killing Carson in the first place was bad enough, and now they're just sticking him away in cold storage.

Maybe there'll be an absolutely bat **** crazy episode where clone beckitt goes back in time, puts real beckitt in storage, and is the one who gets killed! I CAN HOPE! ;)

Bugger, didn't know the season finale was so close. I havent read any spoilers about what next weeks ep is, but i cant imagine this Teyla arc going anywhere interesting. Found this weeks episode fairly boring to be honest.

Ya, I was expecting it to be better, it just petered out with the clone explanation and the stasis chamber. I'm not sure about Teyla's story, it could come good. I like Michael.

At times i can michael to be a loner, he is alone all the time, he has blank slates to serve him and has no real human contact, but what he is doing is right because even if he decided to live his own life there are people who want to hurt him so he has built this army to defend himself. Still though all he has is a cruiser i dont see him being a threat on a planatary scale. I hope season 5 deals with Wraith ship building, i mean there big fookers and i would love to see the shipyard, the best shipyeard i have seen was stil the Monarch shipyars at Kanus (?) III in star trek DS9 (Season 7 episode 2)

    Aren't Wraith Ships Birthed?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,905 ✭✭✭User45701

I dont think its been discussed. I know they havent build any new ships in over 10,000 years though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,727 ✭✭✭✭Sherifu

They would be grown i'd guess, possibly in some kind of shipyard. We have more to learn about the past Wraith/Lantean history I think.
