im so ridiculously excited! i can't picture these dudes doing a bad album, it just doesn't make sense... and, if they have a new album out... they have to be touring soon!.

i refuse to die till i've seen these guys live.

march 17th. i can't wait. quite literally, i *may* be listening to it now, and im loving what i hear. but ill most certainly be purchasing this one. have all their stuff, cast of thousands twice , cos found it with a dvd after i already owned it. can't seem to make their website work for me... clicking to see the cube or to sign up do nothing though.

Cast of Thousands is the only one I have and it's awesome. Saw the single on MTV2 and it was pretty good. May have to get my hands on a copy.

ooh! havent seen any new videos yet, though have the leaders of the free world and cast of thousands dvds.

the leaders of the free wrold is my fave album, it's just so beautiful. and some of the most amazing rhythms going on, check out 'forget myself' and the title track.

though please do buy the cd! such a worthwhile band to support :)

I only have Leaders of the Free World but think it's excellent. Especially love Station Approach, Forget Myself and the title track.

Might get this one if I hear a few tracks from it.

oh, it's so pretty! the video for that song, or at least the DVD that comes with some cds, is pretty awesome.

off that album, switching off... just the definition of perfection... grace under pressure, just the crowd singing 'we still believe in love, so **** you.'.. and the fact that tehy listed all the names of the people singing in their booklet... for those who dont have it, it's kinda listed in grey in alphabetical order all through the booklet, with the actual song lyrics etc written over the background of names. really awesome thing to do, i thought.

ribcage is just one of my all time favourites as well... 'and when the sunshine, throwing me a lifeline finds its way into my room, and all i need is you... ' just one of those beautiful images, and it gets repeated over and over. the dvd video is beautiful too, just the lads kinda hangin round havin fun, and one moment in particular stands out when the pianist/guitarist (im useless with names and faces, and they're brothers..) wins at table tennis, that moment on camera chimes in with the feeling/mood/idea of a particular piece of the music and it's just so perfect and you have to smile cos they just seem so really genuine.

I've seen it around the internet, will have to check it out, although I have an obscene amount of new music to get through...

Ooh, I forgot how much I liked Leaders of the Free World. Very good, very good indeed.

im a bit underwhelmed by their new single for some reason, hopefully the album will impress me more and give me a reason to hit Vicar Street in April

give it a few plays i reckon. i dont *think* there's another 'leaders of the free world', or 'forget myself' type track on it.. but i didnt find tracks that were that instantly amazing to me on any of hteir other albums either. im pretty annoyed actually, cant find a cd store around here that'll be stocking it on monday :(

i found the album to be very boring other than grounds for divorce. Great sound in that song, everything else was just a little too.. sleepy

like most of their stuff not including leaders of the free world and forget myself tracks, which, i found to be more upbeat in an unusual way rather than evrything else being sleepy. have you listened to audience with the pope? i think that's more to the lines of what you're looking for. i thought the same as you initially... nothing was hugely standing out to me... but then grounds for divorce and audience with the pope caught my attention after a couple of listens.

now, weather to fly is sleepy in just a perfect fly away in my own little world kinda way.

the fix is in is another great one...

one day like this, i think is reminiscent of ribcage... a very similar feel from both songs, but individual enough to not seem repetitive.

havent got it yet, but looking forward to getting it as soon as i can. hmmm, sleepy album...

i thought the same about In Rainbows, and I was listening to it in bed the other night, (lights out, so I could LISTEN to it), and it's grown on me lots in the last few weeks, so I would hope elbow does the same. I like a grower...

Second row seats for vicar st. Savage.

Nearly got the album today but opted for a haircut instead to facilitate style.
    They are band of quality.

then this, sir, is the album for you! haha, it's so pretty... finally got the actual album yesterday, and me and the b/f sat up last night, dimmed all the lights, and just listened to it loud while readin the lyrics along to it... sounds just so... *happy dance*.

Just as good as 'Leaders...', if not better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,196 ✭✭✭Crumble Froo

really? i dont think it has quite the same feel as leaders... but then, i guess elbow, for me are so much associated with some major life incidences, and leaders of the free world was one of the cds i put on when things got weird.. but i can see myself growing very attached to starlings 'violets explode inside me when i meet your eyes, then im spinning and im diving like a crowd of starlings.... Darling is this love?'... and bones of you is just beautiful, i can see myself getting quite attached to that... and dammit, what's the name of it..that one that starts about brambles... 'i think when he's drinking he's drowning some riots...'...

ok. yep, i can definitely see this one competing with leaders for me... now that i think about i.t
