Is there such a thing as a PCI-E or PCI card with PS2 type Mouse & Keyboard connections?

Not interested in the cable type USB To PS2 converters.

Not having much success sourcing the above.

Rare but they do exist: PCI 32-bit High Speed USB 2.0 2x Ports and 2x PS2 Port Combo Card

(though it is not clear if these are *real* PS/2 ports or just PS/2>USB converters sitting on a USB card)

Fair play to ya Snowbat ;)

Yep, that's the issue I'm having, I really do need them to be *Real* PS/2 ports because the USB converter gadgets won't work with my application.

The next issue is, do you know if Newegg ship to Ireland?

Thanks for your input, It's much appreciated :)

Well, I contacted Syba about this card & asked the question.

    Hi,

Can you confirm if this product has true (Real) PS2 port connectivity or is it just a USB to PS2 converter form-factor?

    Product:
SYBA PCI 32-bit High Speed USB 2.0 2x Ports and 2x PS2 Port Combo Card Model SD-NECPS-2U2PS2 - OEM

    Thanks in advance,
    Gadgetman496.

    Reply from Syba:

    Dear Gadgetman496,
    Thanks for your inquiry.
This model SD-NECPS-2U2PS2 is a USB to PS2. It is not a real PS2 connection.

I asked Syba this follow up question.

    Thanks for the prompt reply,

Do you know if anything exists that will give you true/real PS2 connectivity on a board that has no PS2 on-board?

    Thanks,
    Gadgetman496.

    Reply from Syba:

    Dear Gadgetman496,
We do not have the true PCI to PS2 card. You may search on the internet to find more information.

did anybody ever come up with a true ps/2 to pcie solution? i am devoted to my old IBM clackey keyboards, with a ps/2 to USB adapter dongle. it works most of the time, but occasionally the PC stops seeing the keyboard. replugging always restores functionality, but it is an inconvenience. thanks!

Not sure about the above, but would it not be a better solution to get a serial pci card and a ps2 to serial adapter?

i'll look into it. in my case, i need a serial pcie card, along with the ps2-serial adapter. glad you suggested it!

It might be cheaper to just try a different USB - PS/2 adapter and see if that solves it. I've been using such a setup for years now with an ancient (but clicky clacky!) Cherry keyboard and have absolutely zero problems with it recognising it at boot time.

Alun, thanks.. i've tried two different keyboards, in combination with the original rear panel USB ports; the original front panel USB ports; and just-installed USB3.0 card. plus, it happened on my previous PC! so, the relatively nominal cost (USD20, and i am in the states) for the card and a dongle is really not a big deal, if it solves a mystery.
and, Cuddlesworth, thanks for the reminder that mice and kb's are serial devices! (i had totally forgotten that mice once used serial DB9 plugs)
