    Hi,

had a customer in ireland call up today and didn't want to pay VAt (in the UK) as they apparently don't have to pay it with some other UK business they deal with, presumably they can claim it back, anyone know how they do this? (my finance lot were at a team building) !

As far as I know, if they give you their VAT number and you can prove export, then you can invoice them VAT free. You must put their VAT number on the invoice along with your own. You then need to include on your Vies return.

That is how it works here anyway and I think it is the same throughout Europe.

That is for goods anyway. Not services.
