Selling and upgrading, what better choice?

I've had my 300D quite sometime now, and sometimes I am feeling it's limits even though it is a very good camera to use, still create some cracking images, but with its limited MP, I want something more, crop factor kinda thing, a faster fps, etc.

Now what could I get for my 300D (which is in perfect cond), with a battery grip, 2 bateries, 18-55mm lens and a 1GB CF card. I'm going to keep my 50mm and 70-300mm ultrasonic canon lens. I'd prob throw in a tripod aswell..

And with this money, what would be a better upgrade choice going from the 300D.

I will spend 300euro, aswell as whatever money I make from the 300D..

    Opinions?

    Nikon!

Seriously just look at how much 300d's are selling for to get a rough guide price of how much you'll make on it. See what cameras are out there in your budget (450D supposed to be out soon so 400D should be coming down in price as well as 2nd hand 350D's) you dont have to fork out for lenses, you'll already have some that will get you by. A little research and you'll know what you can afford.

Was thinking along the lines of a 20D, 40D or 400D...

Havnt really had time to check up on all these cameras, maybe I could get a basic insight to the cost and decency of these cameras, sure there all better than what I have at the moment, just really want views..

Definately want to stick to Canon though, I think it's a bias thing, I just prefer the way they are, and probably Nikon owners usually stick to what they know etc.

For a second there, I thought you said D300! And was going to respond with "What are you going to upgrade to?"!
    Canon it is so...

Judging by the going rates on Adverts.ie, you could probably get a second-hand 20d or 30d, which would be a step up from the 300d.

Selling the 300d could be tricky enough though. I have upgraded a while ago and have kept the 10d because the second-hand prices were too low.

You'll get very little for a 300D now. You might get a 2nd hand 20D or 30D near your price range, and then keep the 300D as a 2nd body. That way, you've the best of both worlds.

You're much better keeping the 300d as a second body because I would be very surprised if anyone would pay you money for it... not when the price of new 400d or a nearly new 350d is so low.

As for upgrading, look around on adverts.ie or one of the popular ebay stores (see the where to buy in the FAQ sticky) to see what's within your budget. Then decide which one you want based on your own individual requirements... there's tons more stuff out there on review sites and in previous threads than people are likely to post in this one, so it's best to get searching...

I recently done the same thing as you was planning on selling my 300D but got useless offers so i kept it and bought a 20d(very pleased with it!)my 300D gets little use but i havent done done much photography since i got it where id need two bodies i think it'll come in handy for sports events i cover!I dont know what you shoot but think of this.you could be shooting macro with your new cam and your 50mm when a bird lands perfectly in front of you but the 50mm is too short then you could pull out your 300D and 70-300 and get a great image..For the money you'll get on the 300D it aint worth it!

Or, you could take you 300D and
    http://www.lifepixel.com/ir-tutorials/canon-rebel-300d-digital-infrared-conversion-instructions.htm

ir might be more fun than selling it on for the few € you might get. I think when I get more time this summer I might try and do it to a D50 :)

They give you FREE step-by-step instructions on how to do it yourself, but if you send it off to them to follow their own instructions, they'll charge you $400!!:eek:
