I got the R4 for my nintendo ds . But i got a tiny ( and i mean tiny) cd that has all the software for my micro sd card.

My problem or i mean my fear is that i am afraid to put this tiny cd into my mac incase it will not come out.

I thought i was smart going to the R4 site and downloading the software, saving my self the fear of putting the little cd into my mac. But that was a waste of time.

My question ---- Can one put tiny cd's into a mac ????

I am so afraid to chance it.

If you dont know what an R4 is or are wondering how small the cd is watch the first minute or two of this video

No, never put a mini cd in a imac or any slot-loading drive. I believe you can get an adapter for them however.

I know the size of CD referred to, they are a 3" disc. On a normal CD platter, you would be grand but with a slot drive you are taking a massive risk in it getting caught internally so don't risk it if you can avoid it.

You may purchase a holder for them in a specialist/niche market music shop, they are cheap enough. If you are lucky, you may find one in a junk/1$ shop. If you were Irish based, I have one sitting at home I could lend you...:(

You can download the software directly from the r4 website.

Annoyingly, the Wii can handle 8cm discs just fine.

I guess Apple didn't upgrade their drives since... the Powerbook G4?

Agreed. AND you get the latest version that way. God knows how old the CD's firmware is.

I went to youtube to find out where i was going wrong. I did go to the website on day one when i got my R4, but the firmware would not make my R4 thing work. The problem --- I had to extract the files out of the folder and drag and drop, i thought i could drag the folder in then open it up.

Well at least i know the little cd's will not work.

Unlike someone I know of who put one of those Cd's into a MBP. I dunno how it was resolved in the end >.<
