    Well guys

    Whats the story with sales tax in new york with regards to apple. I am heading over there in may after exams and thinking of buying a macbook pro. Also will i be able to get a student discount over there ?

    5 or 6%.........no student discount available

    why not head out to new jersey and get it there with no sales tax. Head down to Atlantic city there is an apple shop on cesar's pier. Just get bus from port authority for $33 and when you get there they give you back $20 to use in the casino.

    thanks for all the replies. i am also thinking of buying an iphone in the apple store over there. is it hard to get one without a contract and unlock it. It will definitely unlock with a turbo sim as a last resort, right ?. Also is it true that they will not take cash for the iphone ?

    U HAVE to use a credit card if ur buying in the Apple store, u don't need to sign up to any contract or anything like that.. its the same as buying anything else.. As for unlocking it, afaik u can unlock the new firmware.. best to ask in the mobiles forum about that...
