    Hi,

Can anyone recommend somewhere not too expensive in Europe to go to for a week around june? Want to have a bit of a holiday with my bf but we cant really decide what to do.

I wouldnt mind a week in the sun but he says he would get bored after 2 or 3 days, which is fair enough, theres only so many things to do in these places.

We had been thinking of prague, but after talking to some friends ive been told its a nice place but definitely couldnt spend more than 3 or 4 days there cause it hasnt much other than cheap beer!

UK is pretty much not an option cause its so expensive with sterling.

Any suggestions? im DYING to get away but moneys a bit tight so dont want to spend too much.

    Thanks!

It all depend of what kind of views do you prefer. And how would you like to spend it. Extreme or calm. Mountains or sea. City or village. I'v been in most of the countries in Europe so maybe I could recommend you something.

Prague, yeah, it's beautiful old city. Many monuments of art as that city was not bombarded at IIWW. It's much cheaper than London.

Are you looking for something inside EU or out?

Contiki travel group tours might be an option. It's a travel group for the 18 to 35 age group. You can travel around the destination by an air conditioned tour bus in the presence of a tour guide. All prices are based on 2 people room sharing and you can of course room share with your boyfriend.

See below link of all their European tours. I would suggest picking a tour at a time that corresponds to cheaper airline tickets. Use wikipedia to find out where exactly an airport is located and all the airlines that fly there from Ireland. In the past, I have saved money by flying out with one airline (eg Aer Lingus) and returning with another (eg Ryanair).

See entry 10 of below thread for a review of a tour that I've been on.

    Hope this helps

I went to Croatia on a budget last year and loved it. Flew with Ryanair to Pula for €200 and got a 2 bed apartment beside the sea for €70 each for the week for the 4 of us sharing. They had studio and 1 bed apartments too.
I loved it, beautiful scenery and clean water, good weather, great food and cheap beer. The beauty of it was that there are plenty of beautiful old towns and Roman sites to visit so it's more than 'just' a sun holiday.

wow that's a fantastic deal you got on the apartment, did you book that through a website and if so what is the address so i can have a look?

Agree with, mariannewims. Croatia might be pretty cool place to visit with low budget!

It's very beautiful, mountained country beside Greece. Very hot summers and warm water in the sea. Not only beer and food is cheap but also bus trips, gifts and many more. I think it's one of the cheapest regions in Europe.

If you go there don't forget to taste sljivovica and rakya. But remember that it's only for the taugh guys. ;)

All countries new EU member states seem to be very cheap and not bad at all.

    Hey Jonny,
    Here's the website I booked through; http://www.arenaturist.hr/eng/apartman.asp?ID=ahorizont&slovo=04&poz_osnovni=9&poz_podmenu=2
The only downside was I had to pay by bank transfer as they don't accept credit card payments on the site and as Croatia is non-EU, bank fees were about €20! You could google around or email them and see if it was possible to book elsewhere with credit card details. There was also a local tax for the week on top of the €70 each but it was €1 a day or something like that, payable at the resort.
The resort itself is basic enough; i.e. the apartments were really well equipped and spotless, with living room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and balcony, only about 30 seconds from the sea. However, the resort itself is in need of a bit of work-just cosmetic stuff really, like it needs a lick of paint and a bit of updating. But if that doesn't bother you, it's a great place for a cheap week. The restaurants there have lovely food, although we went into Pula itself most nights, what we saw of it for snacks and lunches was very positive.

If you've any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

    Marianne.
