Fair price for voluntary strike off

    Okay, and on behalf of a friend who on bad advise set up a LTD company for a venture, some years ago.

    It basically didn't trade and he went for voluntary strike off. The bill (excluding newspaper ad and VAT) was €400, from company that had handled all his accounts up to this.

    Detail for €400 was;

    1. Advising on procedures involved in voluntary strike off (15 actual mins on phone + letter)

    2. Preparation of Director's statement/request for strike off and confirming non trading status and that company has no assets or liabilities.

    3. Application for tax clearance cert and letter of no objection from Revenue.

    4. Drafting, placing and confirming ad in national paper.

    5. Submission of documentation to CRO and monitoring CRO file.

    Does the €400 seem excessive? He feels it was.

    Not at all, typical example of clients arguing over fees.

    That was "tongue in cheek" ? :confused:

    He didn't argue, but does he not have the right to question their fee?

    It doesn't sound completely unreasonable to me, considering that services like an audit would cost a lot more. Our own accountant gets paid for basically turning banks statements into annual accounts to send to the CRO. He charges a half a day for this which we find perfectly acceptable.
