    Hi,

Does anyone know the purpose of the interactive card slot and usb port on the sky HD box? I heard a rumor when the HD box first came out that Sky were launching a portable Media Player a la Archos connected through USB,(ZOO Or NUTS &FHM magazines even had special features). Any word on what their true purpose is???

They dropped the idea of mobile media player via USB.
The other slot is insurance in case:
    1) EU insists box must do other Pay TV
    2) NDS encryption totally broken

In either case the module would be a replacement CAM.

They also examined idea of a broadband connection instead of phone line, a module was mooted as that will work in standard non-USB box.

Older normal box have no USB, but RS232 port, maybe you mean Sky+ (has USB) normal ordinary box has RS232, anyone seen USB on newer ones?

I expect the Sky+ to be entry level soon.
