SNG Table selection factor

    Hi,
I play 20$ & 30$ 1-Table (10-Players) SNG on iPoker. My preferred structure is the “Double Stack” as it allows more room for playing and it definitely is a better match with my overall strategy. I also play standard stack 1-Table (10-Players) SNG though (never Turbos) although this is not my favourite structure.

Looking at the Sharkscope (I pay for the full version) of most players playing “Double Stack” and “Standard” SNG on iPoker, I noticed that the “Double Stack” players tend to have more positive winning that the “Standard” players…I’d say that on an average “Double Stack” table 60% of the players seem to show positive gain on Sharkscope and 40% negative, whereas on the “Standard” tables 70% seems to be losing players. I didn’t run this through a large sample of tables to ensure this data are accurate, however my question is this: what in your opinion is more important when selecting a SNG table: overall strength/weakness of the opponents or choosing a structure that suit your games best?

Also I see that in Sharkscope there is a table selection option to see the strength of the players register for a SNG on Pokerstars, Party Poker, etc – however cannot find a similar option for iPoker. Would you know if there is another software out there that allows to view the strength of the players currently registered at a table, without having to enter them one by one on Sharkscope? (by the time I finish they have probably already started the tourney J ).

    Thank you for your advices!

I'm no maths whizz, but it seems impossible for 60% or even 30% to be winning players. This may have something to do with the fact that alot of results from ipoker don't seem to transfer to sharkscope or more likely you have seen misleading sample of stats. The more i hear of sharkscope especially in relation to ipoker, the less i am inclined to trust the imformation given tbh.

I think finding a game you can consistently beat to a sufficient volume is the trick. You may very well beat the deepstack games but how many of these can you play?If you can beat the quicker structures perhaps with a lower ROI but can overcompensate with the volume you'd be able to play maybe this would be another option for you.Another upside to this is the extra rakeback received due to the larger volume of rake paid. The trick is to get the balance right.
I believe the standard is pretty much(although not always) determined by the buyin and just stick where you're winning.Alot of players make the mistake of moving to bigger buyins just because their bankroll allows it,this can lead to much higher variance and as is often the case their ROI suffers and often end up making a similar/smaller profit anyway.
Just something to think about, this is only my opinion of course but I hope it is of some help to you.
