Gym Assesment

    Hi All,

Just looking for some advise, I joined Westwood gym in Leopardstown last week and went for the assesment last night. The instructor was very good, expained the program and the machines, but didn't take any note of my weight and measurements etc.

I have been a member of two women only gyms before, and measurements and weight were how the results were measured, so was a bit surprised that it was not mentioned, is maybe because it is a mixed gym?? Do I have to ask for this to be done?

    Thanks

I had the same problem when I was at Westwood, I had to ask at reception and they got a trainer to do it for me it wasn't part of my first assesment.
They tried to charge me extra cash to do it but I told them no and they let that go.

Extra cash? From what i was told on the sign up its all included! Other than that did you find the gym any good?

Westwood were going to charge me 25euro to do body fat etc but I refused to pay, they decided to let me have my way. I found Westwood good and the staff and other members are friendly but it wasn't worth paying 75euro a month for membership.
If you are going to do a lot of the cardio classes and use the pool etc then it's worth paying that amount.

Thanks, the classes and the pool are what swayed me to join, and the proximity to work, I'm 5'3 and weigh 11 stone, hoping to lose the excess weight and tone up

I am 5'4 and was similar weight and now down to 9 1/2 stone, found the atmosphere at Westwood really good which helped me keep really focused on my training in the early days when I needed it the most.

If you stick at the classes and training and eat the right foods then you'll get the results that you want. My problem when I started in the gym was thinking that I could go and lift really light weights or walk slowly on the treadmill and I'd see results, after a month of getting nowhere I realised I needed to push myself and that it wasn't meant to be easy.
Now I wouldn't dream of giving up training and the gym and don't miss crisps, cola or chocolate that much (still treat myself from time to time) I like what I see in the mirror so much more compared to what I used to look like and I'm scared of going back to the weight and shape I use to have, that is more than enough motivation to keep at it.
