What are the chances of getting a 2nd hand PS3 that is 60gb

Have PS2 games and I believe this is the only console that has backward compatibility ?

Tried ringing Game & Gamestop but no joy

In London this weekend so could try there

Is it like Precious Gold looking for these

Rang Playstation helpline and was told that if I buy it privately and it breaks I would need the original receipt this correct ?

Should I hold off till later in the year and see if 80gb comes out ?

The 60GB version pops up second hand fairly regularily on adverts.ie you might find a bargain there.

If you're concerned about the capacity, it is very easy(and not that expensive) to upgrade the harddrive to as much as 250GB.

As for needing the receipt, the PS3 is a very reliable console, if you don't treat it badly it will last without any problems. I wouldn't think it's a major worry.

I'd ring gamestop, game & xtravision every week or so and ask them, also no harm in giving the stores up the north a bell, Derry have loads of game shops, I saw a fair few used ones around christmas.

Don't mean to take this OT but jonnyflav, is there much involved in the HD upgrade? Why is it limited to 250 Gb only?

Its not limited to 250GB, its just that 250GB is/was the largest 2.5" HDD available. I think 2TB is the limit for FAT32 drives but we will never see that for 2.5" HDD.

There is an excellent backup program built into the PS3 where you can backup settings, games, saves, themes, etc to external FAT32 drive and then restore them all after replacing internal HDD.

At the minute, you can actually buy up to 320GB(thought it was only 250) 2.5" SATA laptop harddrives, going on komplett's website. Although there's a 500GB being released soon.

It's a very simple procedure, with plenty of guides on the net. It's just a matter of backing up your saved data, popping out your old drive, in the new and copy your saved data. It's something that Sony allow(even encourage), so your warranty is still perfectly OK after the change.
