Eh? Those gigs in Vicar St. were some of the best he's ever done! Definitely the best out of the times I've seen him. A great album followed by an hour of greatest hits, can't ask for more.

I heard stuart clark of hot press on today fm yesterday and he said there was rumours of neil young in ireland in the summer so fingers are crossed that he will.
Hes on a european tour at the moment though and no irish date on it so Im tryin not to get over excited by the prospect, apparently its a first half acoustic, 2nd half electric show which puts rust never sleeps live in my mind.

are you for real? I missed the show in Vicar St but got the DVD as part of the CD and I have to say it sounded and looked like a great gig. I also managed to see Neil with Crazy Horse in Radio City Hall in March '04 performing the entire album with actors/singers on stage and it was fantastic. I think the people who gave out about Vicar St are the same people who give out about Bob Dylan gigs when they go expecting to here a greatest hits show sung by a man from 40 years ago. My advice is stay at home and stick on one of their best ofs and let others take your place at the gigs.

Slow down there mate, i'm not slating the gig by any means, I'm a big Neil Young fan, seen him several times and thought it was great ,but I wasn't that pushed with Greendale, I thought it dragged on abit and certainly quite a few people where I was sitting voiced the same, thats just my opinion. As for Dylan, seen him 3 times and loved it, will say though that his voice was very strained in '03 as many who where there would agree. The show in '05 was fantastic! Could I ask you this, have ya actually been to any of these gigs yourself??

Yes, I've been to see Dylan and Young a few times. Both have had their good times and their bad and the Vicar St. gig was definitely one of Neil's best (I was at the night they recorded the DVD). I definitely didn't get any impression that people weren't into it, the crowd seemed to be riveted. Apart from one woman who must have went in and out of the venue over a dozen times during the gig. I don't mind someone doing this but do they have to wear very loud high heels when doing so? Argh!

John, that question wasn't aimed at you, twas for the guy in the above quote. Would agree alright, somewhere as intimate as Vicar St. can be very annoying when ppl are movin around every five minutes!! Do you think he'll play V.St again, out of interest?

Just heard on the radio this morning that he's playing Malahide Castle at the end of June.

Can't remember the exact date (as I had a couple of kids yapping in the car at the time) think it was the 30th.

    hotpress released today:

"Neil Young is Ireland-bound this summer for a brace of shows in Malahide Castle, Dublin (June 29) and Live At The Marquee, Cork (30)."

Yeah I've seen Dylan a few times but only got to see Young the once. Heading to the show on the 29th though and from what I heard from a mate who was at one of the UK gigs he's really on flying form. Sorry if my tone was a bit over the top on my earlier post but I just get annoyed with people who don't research the show/artist they're going to and complain afterwards when their unrealistic expectations are not met (my parents at Bob Dylan's Pearse Stadium gig for example!!). Take it easy, Shane

well what did people think of last night? I thought his was voice was excellent and enjoyed the gig, particularly the acoustic set in the middle but if there was one criticism it was that some of the lead solos bordered on self indulgence..
