Basically a 2000 mile hike from Georgia to Maine... i've no plans for my summer, alot of people do J1 trips to san diego for a D4 version of the OC so figured this might be something different...

pro's and con's anyone? prefereably more cons so i can be really critical of this idea...! other idea was to fly to america, hop on a bike and work from there!
basically would combine a trip away with some sort of fitness...

Get yourself a dehydrator and dry freeze enough food for a year. It would much cheaper an option. You could use your oven you could buy a dehydrator.Try the link below to purchase one. It's advantage lies in reducing the weight of your food weight to a fraction about 1/6 or more depending on the food type.25 pounds of apples reduced to 4 Ibs.

    Pros
To many to list, Good health,

This should be a good resource for veterans of the appalachian trial who will give you advice and share their experiences.

Read the Bill Bryson book, a walk in the woods. That'll tell you the cons pretty well! Excellent book too!

Was thinking of doing this too, but they say the best time to start is around now. If you start from the South and work North you get the best weather that way.

We drove for a long portion of it, and did some small hikes. Its nice scenery wise, but is also doesnt change a whole heap. We toured alot of the northwest, so we saw bits of it from Virgina up to Maine.
