    Hi All,

This is a budget-inspired thread. I'm sure there are plenty of things to do in Dublin when you're broke so we might as well start a list and see what we can put together!

    For starters:

Howth & Dun Laoghaire piers at the weekends, when the place has a bit of a buzz from the markets (it's free to look!)
Walking in any of the city's parks: Stephen's Green, Iveagh Park
The National Gallery of Ireland--admission is free and there are free tours at the weekend too
National Museum of Ireland. At least I think it's free. can anyone confirm?
Gallery of Photography in Temple Bar
Yeats Exhibition at the National Library
Grafton Street--enough to keep you amused for a little while on a weekend!

You get put on your scruffiest clothes, not shave or wash your hair for a few days and sit on a Dublin street that gets lots pedestrian traffic. Put a stern look on your face and hold out a cup.

Chester Beatty Library in Dublin Castle is great, loads of stuff from global religions and culture in general, gasp at the fragments of Bible's written in 150 - 200 AD, that's almost old enough to have actually know JC himself. Also the Greek grammar book and dictionary is in great nick for being 1600 years old.

there are lots of equally impressive stuff there from Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam an Chinese creeds as well, it's a great place

    Favourite spots:

    Botanic Gardens

    Christchurch Cathedral

Stephen's Green (especially in good weather and at lunchtime!)

and underused and underappreciated... Dublin Central Library

I was at that Vicar Street thing. I admit now it was a stupid stupid mistake, except for the 'warm up' people.
