    Are you sure you get a reaction? is OH- strong enough to deprotanate it? I imagine OH- doesn't act as a nucleophile? post up your suggested mechanism...?

    Wait now, goign to revise my aldol chemistry, also i have a suspicion Baldwins rules may be useful for the ring closure?
