    Hi
    What does this mean

If you want to put 10 euros on ken Doherty to win world snooker in Sheffield:-

    now!!

    Ken doherty to is 20 - 1

Potential Returns: on 5 euros is 105 euros WIN

Potential Returns: on 5 euros -- each way 160 euros

What is the defference between WIN and EACHWAY (betting )in snooker?
    Thanks

Can you just put 5 euro on ken to win the final each way--you get more money back?????????

€5 each way costs you €10 total. €5 for the win at 20/1 and €5 for the place bet at 10/1 (1/2 the win odds). So if he is beaten in the final you get back €55

each way means 2 bets - one to win and one to be placed
in snooker to be placed you must finish first or second
in horse racing placed can mean finishing 1st 2nd 3rd 4th or maybe even 5th

so you win some money back even if your selection doesnt win the event

in snooker when your man finishes 1st or 2nd they pay you half the odds
in horse racing they pay a quarter of the odds for a place finish

so in your example €5 for the place will be at 10/1 if he finishes 1st or 2nd

so in total like you say you could get €160 back, 105 for the win and 55 for the place

    ah edit i see now
like seorg says each way will cost you double
you were thinking you could win €160 for just a €5 total stake ?

You'd get more oney back if you didnt back him at all :D

Wrong forum by the way, try http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=684

Anyway, to answer your q: at the bottom of the list of players it says "Each Way Odds 1/2 places 1,2".

So with "each way" you're betting 5 euro that he'll win @ 20-1 (100 + yer fiver back)
and also betting 5 euro that he'll come first or second @ 10-1 (50 plus yer fiver back) == 160

Question seems to be answered, but I'll move it to gambling anyway for any further discussion.
