Battery chargers: A question for all the Airsoft retailers

A question for all the Airsoft retailers (and any one else with an informed opinion on chargers):
I was recommended to get a smart charger (You know who you are), which seems to me to be a very good idea, since AEG batteries seem to be temperamental and finicky, and I'd like my kit to last a while. However, I see you all have some variation on the TLP charger, but with widely varying prices and they're clearly not the same model from each retailer. There's also an Ansmann one that a couple of you have.

    So:
    a) what's the difference between them all, and

    b) how much do the pricey ones have that I don't need if I just want intelligent charging of different capacity AEG batteries to the correct level?

I thought the answers might be of interest to other forum readers here, but if you'd prefer to take it offline then by all means PM me.
