Chorus 'Signal Boost'

    Hi all,

My father was working on the outside of the house and accidentally pulled the Chorus cable out of the box. The chorus box is now asking for all kinds of settings when we switch it on.

I called Chorus support today and explained the problem. The girl said to me 'OK - it might just need a signal boost - is the box switched on?'

I said 'I'm in work so I can't say but it is probably switched off because we can't get any channels'

Then she said ' Well I've sent a signal boost to it now, so it might work when you go home and switch it on'.

I was a bit skeptical of this because it sounds too good to be true...and it was. The box still asks for settings.

After reading some stories on boards about NTL/Chorus support, I am wondering if this 'signal boost' business was just a way of fobbing me off? I can't imagine how it would work when the box is asking for various settings?

I will try to get through to support again but in the meantime - Does anyone know what settings I need to input? It's asking about Transponder/automatic and signal frequency etc.

    Thanks

Not 100% on this but I think the box picks up those settings itself.
Maybe when she said "signal boost" she meant that they were sending the settings to the box again.

Everytime I had a box installed the engineer never had to input any network details...they just had to ring the provisioning crowd to get the box activated.

Irishdude is correct in saying the boxes will pick up the settings automatically, but how exactly did you accidently knock out the cable, they are usually screwed into place???

You will need to insure all connections are correct then reboot the box, they can send a pulse signal to the box if the card looses its activation settings...The settings required are Dependant on the area you live in.
