    Hi folks,

Don't know if this requires it's own thread but need to ask this. I've started training about 6 weeks ago, just doing cardio and working on my fitness. Now my fitness has improved and now I've started doing resistance training. The question is I was training yesterday and am in bits today. I'm going to the gym tomorrow should I keep doing the weights tomorrow even if I'm still sore or should I stop until the pain is gone? Also does anyone know if I keep on smoking will this effect my muscle gain or does it make a difference?

    Thanks for the replies.

You shouldn't train a muscle which is sore until it has recovered. Lots of people train different muscles on different days. Eg- if you train arms on monday and on tuesday they are still sore, you can train legs on tuesday and therefore your arms can still recover from mondays workout.

I hope i explained that point properly.

What is the routine? You'll naturally be pretty destroyed after the first few workouts but recovery should become quicker once your body is used to the increased workload. Also make sure you're eating plenty.

It will pass in a month or so, gradually getting less pain. Enjoy it while it lasts! in a few months you will be wondering if you should be feeling pains, and will miss it.

If you hit a new muscle group in a while you can expect it again.

I still get DOMS (Delayed onset muscle soreness) for up to 3 days after a high rep squat session
