I've had ongoing problems with using wifi in the Hamilton over the last month, especially in the last 2 weeks or so. Now I only bother taking the laptop to the Physics building or the Arts block as it's usually reliable there.

Having said that, it might be an issue with the laptop as I saw people with macs surfing away while my Vista laptop couldn't connect.

I went to IS Services a couple of weeks ago, where I was told there was issues with wifi in the library. They told me nothing useful like repair estimate dates or the cause of the problem however:(

yea im running vista too. ball of dirt if ya ask me, looks nice but i find it really slow.

you'd think that the college would be able to have a decent wifi system that works, but no....i guess thats to much to ask for

No problems in the Arts block or the Berkeley library :)

Still can't get thunderbird to download my emails while in college though.

Thats what we just said above. They have blocked POP3.

And there are no probs what so ever in the arts block... Its great when i have the one or two lectures a week over there.. Wifi in seconds.

You should go to ISS and ask them to help you get your bitTorrent client working...

    Just go to the Usher.

I downloaded kubuntu 7.10 there today on a wifi connection in 2 mins and 7 seconds!

The usher is only good for science students if they don't need to use many books in the library. I wouldn't want to take my physics book across campus just to use wifi. I bring in an ethernet cable if I need to use the internet. But then only a small fraction of the sockets are even wired up...

Where are the SU in trying to get this sorted out?

Have you said anything to them?

It's shocking in the Pav too. I'm even having trouble authenticating onto the network. Come back tcdopencampus, all is forgiven!!!

I've only mentioned general internet access problems (the NAC and java-based games) to one of my class reps recently, not about this particular issue. I'll get back to them about it.
