great capture - did you use fill-in flash ?

personal preference would be to crop off the bottom (foreground)

Thanks guys. I did use fill in flash, 2 strobes, one to the left of him @45 degrees out of shot and one to the far right on the other side of the bowl to hit him side on.

Hard to get them to fill in sufficiently with such a reflective surface and bright sky (need more powerful strobes!). The sky was totally blown so I decided to tone map the shot to bring in as much detail as I could.

I've already cropped it down a touch but I chose to have the foreground in as some interface leading into the shot. The foreground puts the overall shot into some sort of perspective as to what the subject is riding, in regards to size and what is going on. I know this isn't to everyones taste and wouldn't be what they are used to seeing in a sports photo.

    Pete.

I like the shot. Working with flash is my next project which I hope to start fairly soon.

The colours are excellent and the fill is very subtle, grafitti on the bowl adds to it too
