every time i rebuild a winxp sp2 pc i have to install just over 200mb of updates

i found these files in windows\softwaredistribution\download

stuck the whole lot into a self extracting winrar that extracts to that folder for other pcs

this saves me a lot of time but....

i still need to goto windowsupdate to install windows installer and get the wga legitcheckcontrol.dll inserted, then i reboot and after 2mins the yellow shield will popup beside the time saying new updates are ready to install

so i added windows installer to that self extractor and set it to run after extracting

so now i just need to find a way to fully install that legitcheckcontrol.dll so that i can update a pc without downloading a thing

would be willing to distribute this when i have it completed and and well tested

We use a free tool called Autopatcher to that exact thing

Bearing in mind that Autopatcher has been out of commission for a number of months now, so while it will cover a lot of the necessary stuff you are still likely to have to run Windows Update to get the rest of the fixes.

Honestly, I wish MS would buy Autopatcher and continue it internally like they did with SysInternals.
