Did a fresh install on a frind's laptop the other day.
Problem is the sound card doesn't seem to be installed.

I asked him if the sound was working before, but he said he couldn't remember.

Anyway, I've searched for a driver for it with no luck.

SRS TruSurround XT sound system is what the sticker on the laptop says.

Anyone know where the driver can be found?

Try installing this. It should tell you everything you need to know about the computer. Prepare for a long and torturess journey though. I did the same for a friend and it took me ages to get the sound working.

Could get just get the hardware ID of the file and google it, should give you the correct driver from that...

If its a Windows box, just look in the Device manager and bring up the properties of the unknown device. Go into the details tab and select Hardware IDs and use that to search for the new driver

What's the exact make and model of the computer ?

Have you tried the makers site, HP, Sony and Fujitsu all provide handy driver finders on their websites. For example HP installes a small app on the machine that examines it and downloads the correct drivers.

    +1 for Everest.
