Cool. What was the idea behind the photoshoot? Are they players?

I recon that paint ball is under so much pressure from airsoft, that they have to push it, if you go into some of the big shopping centers you will see operators selling paintball like they never had to before, that's what they get for being as greedy as the have been, just because they had no competition, they made it too commercial and played on the fact that Joe public couldn't just go out and buy their own markers.
As the old saying goes, what goes around comes around.;)

this is very degrading and should not be allowed here :mad:we do not need this type of advertising for a so called sport:mad:

I meant was it for a calender or similar Derek.

I don't think that type of thing needs to be degrading mrs maxforce. I seen this done in the past with style and respect for those involved, and it can work without anyone feeling degraded.

On one level you can argue that its objectifing women (which is probably true), but I don't think thats the aim here. I think the aim is to promote paintball as a sexy, exciting and fun sport and move away from its more stereotypical persona.

if it is their aim they have been very badly adviced in my opinion and surely they would get alot more players if it was aimed at everbody and not stereotyping them selfs before they even start

My American Football team did a naked (but with stragically placed props) calender before Christmas for charity and it sold like hot cakes. Got a lot of people asking questions about the sport and a bunch of new sign-ups after that. Any publicity is good publicity.
That wasn't seen as degrading to the lads as players or to the sport by anyone (women or men) so I don't think a calender with women doing roughly the same thing (albeit considerably more clothed) would garner a different reaction.

More power to them if it works out. Well done DitPaintball.

"There is know style and respect in any of that"

I like to see ditpaintball's response to the questions to the questions I put to him before I decide that. I don't know how the images are going to be used, and that will be what largely determines how tasteful or respectful they are.

As I said I've seen this work before where female role players agreed to do a similar photo shoot. In the past my response would have been the same as yours in this thread, however I was taken back by how positive the reaction by women to the calender was. They largely viewed that activity as exclusively male and seeing pretty young women role-playing changed that view.

Be honest, have you never looked at some thing like this NSFW. If Its in the same vein wheres the problem?

Gatling: could you re-frame from stirring the ****?

To be honest i thought it was quiet a nice video (for obvious reasons) but couldnt for the life of me figure out what those women ha to do with paintball. I seriously doubt they play or will ever intend playing. Damn hot though. Rarr.

You're right it is a public forum, and ditpaintball is entitled to post that footage on it.
These arguments about the degrading way in which women are portrayed in these photo shoots are never resolved and best left alone altogether.

This is what we call trolling. Or in other words, sh!t stirring. A wink at the end does not make it acceptable. Any more and you won't be welcome to post here any more.

Also trolling. Do not bring sh1t from one thread into another.

There's a lot of nastyness going on here in the last few days. If it doesn't stop right now, I'm going to have to start handing out bans.

Actually, this can be considered a mass warning to everyone. I'm getting rather sick of this to be honest.

Ditpaintball, you actually chose a really bad time to post a thread like this. So it's being locked for the moment.

Well BSLF, I think that you are making your remarks in ignorance of what is going on in the paintball world. Paintball has come on so much in Ireland in the last 18 months that in another 18 it may even be on TV in Ireland ;);) One only needs to look at the recent press that airsoft as been getting to see which sport is under pressure.

You are referring to commercial paintball sites, one in particular that uses a marketing strategy that involved the selling of tickets. This has got nothing to do with me or anything in this video. If you look at the video again, there is nothing trying to be sold in this video that you know of yet. See points below for an explanation of what the video was for.

What are you talking about here? There is plenty of competition between paintball sites in Ireland. Paintball as whole, just like airsoft, has to compete with all other out door activities such as quad biking, laser tag, surfing etc etc.

    BFSL wrote: »

Actually, 'Joe Public' can buy their own markers, it just more complex process involved, which a group of paintball players... not site owners, calling them selves the IPPA are working on at the moment. Beside, is it not better for your airsoft business and others that your 'competition' is harder to get into.

Just to clear up what the video is about. It is the back stage scenes of a photo shoot which is going to be used in an advertising campaign for Irelands First Tournament Paintball Series, called The IXL - Irish X-Ball League. This league was set up and is going to be managed by paintball players and enthusiasts.

The suggestions that this campaign is degrading to women is just silly. The girls who took part did so on a volunteer basis and they had a great time doing it.
