Won Pixmania Ebay auction - now additional charges ?

    Hi

I've searched here, and tried within eBay - I'm trying to see if there is a rule about displaying an item price without stating it excludes vat ?

I won an item from Pixmania-Uk and now received an email quoting a higher winning bid, higher delivery and then a VAT charge on top ?

    My email:

    Hello

I was just looking at the email you sent regarding my winning bid on ebay

I am also looking at the auction page within eBay

you are quoting a price of 114.07, the item won is listed as 104.10

you are here quoting a delivery charge of 14.14 while the auction page lists the charge as 12.90

Finally you are showing a vat amount of 26.93, but no where on the auction page can I see where you state there is an additional vat charge rather than VAT being inclusive in price quoted ?

This is approximately 57.00 euro more than I understood the costs when i bid on the item

    Please revert

    Regards

That sounds dubious to me. I'm sure it states somewhere that all charges must be specified and that anything else would be a breach of contract. Have you contacted eBay about it as opposed to looking on the website for answers? Check th link below and there should be a way to contact them for advice...

seen something lately on ebay that all business customers have to display inclusive of vat

From 20th February 2008, we'll be changing the policy around how sellers are allowed to treat VAT in their listings.

Currently, we leave it to sellers to decide whether they include VAT in the selling price or add it after the sale at the checkout.

Based on strong feedback from both the buyer and seller community, we're changing the policy so that it will no longer be permissible to add VAT charges to an item after the sale. If you're VAT registered, and therefore must charge VAT on the items you sell, the prices visible to buyers in your listings must be inclusive of VAT.

    Regards,

    The eBay Team"

Unless I am misunderstanding it, that means that what has happened in the OP's situation is in breach of the rules, unless its a genuine error, which I guess it could be if their feedback is 100%...

I suppose the OP will have t make the seller aware of the new rules and see what happens...

strangely, it took the original value at paypal

And their feeback isn't 100 % , 97 I think, normally I would stick with 99+ but read the feedback, and it is pixmania

hope I don't encounter problems other people have posted recently

will see if they respond to email,, or reject the payment etc

Interesting note, pixmania will pay you (with vouchers) to change your feedback if you leave negative feedback for them so teh feedback system is worthless with them.
